Utility: My husband did the install and it worked fine right away. It's been several months and it's still working fine. It has a nice wide range of motion detecting, and the light is very bright. We are pleased with its functionality and utility - it does what it is supposed to do. Appearance: Colorwise, I was a bit surprised at how dark the color of the paint is. To my eye, the paint color seems almost black with only the slightest hint of brown (if you look for brown). In other words, it's a super dark DARK brown finish, barely brown at all, and one might take a quick look and assume it was black. Aesthetically, overall, this light is fine and not offensive to look at (keeping in mind that none of these two-directional motion detector lights look like they belong in an art museum). Purchased this to replace an older failing GE unit that took the same PAR38 bulbs. Installed easily and seems to be working well. Base and connectors are all plastic, not metal, which is a step down from the older unit. I'm using it with replaceable LED bulbs. I subtracted one star due to using the plastic and only weak pictorial instructions. Tip from my contractor: do the suggested caulking in the picture, but he says to do only the top and sides, leaving a moisture escape at the bottom. Caulking gun is overkill; use a small tube of clear silicone caulking. ... show more

I wanted to use LED bulbs to save money on electricity but absolutely didn't want to buy on of the flood light set ups with permanent bulbs. When they burn out, time to throw away the whole unit! With this one I can put in LED bulbs and when one burns out, just screw in a new one. AND yes the led bulbs do burn out. I know they say they last 30-50,000 hours but that is like saying American cars last 400,000 miles. Occasionally they do but most don't and thats what I found with LED bulbs. Some last and others burn out in a couple years. This makes it all easy and cheap. 4 stars because there is no adjustment for sensitivity like other units just the duration of light. ... show more
