Alas, I wanted grape flavoring for my soda-stream. This works, but the flavor isn't near as concentrated as in the brand flavor mixes -> use something around 2x what you might of the brand name flavor mixes (the ones with sugar mixed in), and don't be afraid to add corn syrup. Here's to hoping *somebody* gets their act together and makes a proper grape flavoring for these consumer market carbinators. ... show more

    • What kind of root beer is this?
Flavor Name: Root Beer
I was enjoying the root beer Frazil slushes at the local C store, then it was replaced by some other flavor. In my disappointment, and missing my favorite summer cooler, I decided to make my own, and ordered the one gallon Lucy’s Root Beer syrup. I’ve tried every logical ratio of syrup to water and ice. Straight ice doesn’t really work, as it can’t be poured into the cup, it just sticks in the blender. When testing ratios failed, I just tried a small slush adding syrup little by little. At this point I just wanted to reach that ah-ha moment of tasting a great root beer slush. Unfortunately that moment never came, it was too light, too light, until adding only 1/4 ounce made it too strong. Never in this journey did it ever taste of root beer.
