This lamp is simple, sturdy and tall. It provides great light for a room. I am not a huge fan of the shade. It is a roll of fabric that clips to the frame and velcros together. To me that makes it look really cheap, but I can replace the shade easily with something better. Overall, I like this lamp. I got this floor lamp for my office because it is tall and looked like it would provide a lot of light without taking up much space. It's fulfilled that need perfectly. Everything you need comes in the box, including the bulb and batteries for the remote control. It took me maybe 10 minutes to put it together including stopping to look at the instructions a few times. The shade is rolled up smaller than it is on the lamp; the box includes a wire circle and wire structure for the bulb that the shade clips on to at the bottom and top. The open side closes with a very sensitive Velcro-type fastener (I say "very sensitive" because I had to wrestle with it some to get it straight because it stuck together so easily. I know, though, that it won't come apart quickly!). The dark brown matte finish on the metal stand and the oatmeal fabric of the lamp shade work great with my office furniture. It's made to recede into the background, not stand out, but its classic styling is attractive while understated. The on/off switch is a foot switch on the cord, so no fumbling under the shade to find it. I'm very pleased with this; I could see having two or more in a darker room to illuminate the corners or to be task lighting for reading or crafts. The remote control works well, allowing you to adjust the brightness, tone (yellow, blue, more white), and mode (day or night). The brightness and tone both change incrementally letting you find the precise combination that works for you. One of my favorite features is the timer - you can set the lamp to turn itself off in 30 minutes or an hour. That's perfect especially for leaving a light on for someone coming in later after you go to bed. A beautiful, classic, versatile floor lamp that does All The Things. ... show more

So this lamp has some nice features with it like the floor button (I'm always searching the other lamps for a twist knob or push button somewhere on the shaft) and remote for changing hue and brightness. The remote wouldn't pair no matter what I did until I figure out you had to be within 10 inches of the column for it to function. As soon as I move a couple feet away it stops working. That and the finicky little lamp shade make this less than perfect, but it is still a nice lamp. My wife is always reading on the couch and never has enough light (she likes to be cozy and doesn't want overhead lights on). This provides additional light for her without being harsh. It isn't bright enough by itself for book reading and definitely not for a room, but as an additonal lamp, it's just right. ... show more

    • It's just a wonderful lamp!
I was a little skeptical when I received a floor lamp in such a little box. And the instructions to put it together are not terrifically helpful when it comes to assembling the lamp shade (and yes, you have to assemble it.) But even I managed to figure it out, which surprised even me. When I turned it on, WOW! It's got a remote -- and I thought, "Oh, great, another remote to lose track of." But the remote is magnetized, and you can leave it right on the metal lamp stand, so you'll never lose it. The best part is that it has multiple light settings -- warm, almost flourescent bright, and regular. Not only does it have multiple settings for the quality of light, but it has multiple settings for the brightness of those lights. So if you're just watching TV, you can have the warm setting set to low brightness. But if you're reading or doing needlework or something, you can turn this sucker up to the near-flourescent setting with high brightness, and see everything you need to see. It also has an on/off switch on the floor (so you can just tap it with your foot) as well as on the remote. As if that wasn't enough, there are also 2 different timer settings on the remote -- set it to turn the lamp off in 30 minutes, or an hour. This is one of the best lamps I've ever had! So don't judge a lamp by the size of the box it comes in!! (Hint on the lamp shade: The circular metal piece that rests on the stand goes in the bottom of the shade, with the smaller circle on top. Unscrew the black plastic circle from the top of the lamp stand, put the smaller circle of the metal shade piece on the top of the lamp stand, screw it down with that black plastic circle, and voila! The plain circular piece of metal snaps into the top hooks of the shade.) ... show more

    • Nice lamp
A decent lamp that does what it describes. It is stylish for my small living room with adjustable brightness. There’s only one thing that I don’t like, I wish it could be more sturdier
