My 4 month old puppy took to the concept quickly. Everything was going great until she got excited one day, jumped against the door where the bells hung and accidentally got a toenail caught in one of the bells. She got hurt and now won’t go near them. I removed them but she is fearful of that door. Had it not been for the injury, these would’ve been great. Sadly, I’m now back at square one with her house breaking plus have to train her from being fearful of the door. This is probably a rare incident but use caution if you purchase these. ... show more

I literally CANNOT give these enough praise. This was the only thing that helped me train my puppy. Taught him the touch command, then to touch the bells, then to touch the bells on the door, then to touch the bells every time we went out to go potty, then eventually he started using them to tell me he needs to go out to go potty. I use these to train my dogs to let me know when they need to go out. These work great. The longer bells work well with smaller dogs. It's pretty simple to teach them. The bells jingle when you open the door so they begin to recognize the sound. To secure the idea, I jingle them when saying "potty" so they associate that. These bells really work! No more accidents by the door. My daughter potty trained her puppy to use Puppy Bells and raved about how well they work. I was skeptical, but looked them up on Amazon and decided to give them a try. We have two dogs ... a seven year old MinPin and a Cockapoo puppy. They are both house dogs. The MinPin has learned to alert us when he needs to go out. Our puppy hadn't learned how to let us know she needed to go outside. I hung the Puppy Bells from the patio door and followed the basic dog training routine of showing the behavior and rewarding the dogs when they mimic the behavior. It took less than a day for both dogs to learn to ring the bells when they need to go outside. No more accidents by the back door. The bells are loud enough to be heard throughout the house, but not so loud as to be obnoxious. The strap is sturdy ... no worries about wear and tear. The strap is long enough to reach from the handle of the patio door to about 6" from the floor. Perfect for any size dog. We are very pleased with this purchase. Five stars. ... show more

My lovely little miniature Schnauzer was already doing very well for her age at potty training but this has helped tremendously! She got it's purpose super fast (she is a wonder dog...just saying) but this actually makes it easier for her to train me. If I get caught up in a project these bells are loud enough to get my attention and let me know that she needs out. I was afraid to buy this at first as I imagined being annoyed fairly quickly of a loud bell sound but that is not the case with these bells.
