  • Recommended kennel.
I bought this because one of my Dachshunds kept getting out of the yard, no matter how we tried to dog-proof and fortify. Even when we just left the house for an hour, we'd get a call from the neighbors telling us they had her 'AGAIN' and we'd have to cut our errand short. So, we finally decided enough was enough. We didn't want to tie her up to a stake and leave her there in the middle of the yard. We were scared she'd end up strangling herself, and that there wasn't enough shade. We also didn't want to leave her indoors because I didn't want her using the carpet as a restroom and then getting into the habit of it. A home-kennel seemed like the best option for us. I ordered this kennel because of its reviews and its price. It was very easy to assemble (the roof gave me some trouble, it would have been nice to have an extra set of hands for it), large enough to fit all three of my little doggies comfortably, heavy enough to keep them from squeezing underneath, and not too tall as to not fit under the patio cover. (I can see a very large dog getting out of this kennel, just by tipping it over. But it would have to be a very large beast of a dog.) I put a fleece dog bed down, and a dog-bowl of fresh cool water whenever we leave. The first time we ever left them all in the kennel and went out for dinner, we sat quietly, listening for the familiar ring of our cellphones telling us the neighbors had her. It never came. We went home and there they were, just as we left them. We've had it for a few months, it's wonderful, and holding up well. We can now shop comfortably, I can run errands without worrying, go on trips (we don't leave the dogs in their for days, since you never should. We ask someone to house-sit when we go away, or stop by for a few hours and let them out to play and what-not before they leave). I highly recommend this kennel, it's been a stress-saver and a superb buy. ... show more

  • Best Easy Set Kennel Ever!
I really like this kennel, I purchased 2 and combined them to make a extra long outside kennel for my Mini Pin. I put a door on one end and the back side of the other end. I put her food and water by the back door for easy access for cleaning and refilling, I put a medium sized igloo in the back corner...I spread out the two tarps so the end with the igloo is covered and the other end is covered and there is a square gap in the center to let sunshine and rain in - my pup loves playing in different weather and watching the birds fly around so she often basks in the sun in the middle portion where she can look up, when it gets too cold or wet she goes for cover under her igloo under the back tarp and stays nice and dry, her food stays dry as well. I purchased a side tarp that I roll up when the weather is nice but if its too windy I let them down and she is good to go. I was worried a small toy dog would be able to dig under the bottom rim of the kennel since it sits on grass and dirt but this was not the case...it sits maybe a inch at most off the ground and if it is really a problem you can push the spokes down into soft/medium ground with enough pressure to get rid of the gap. I was also worried she would fit through the gaps in the door frame area but that was not a problem either. The frame is really nice and sturdy, very solid, and of high quality material and construction. It was super easy to assemble. I hate assembling even simple furniture but this didn't require any extra tools or a lot of exertion on my part. There was no struggling with pieces, no hunting down bolts because you are missing one, no flipping through a product instruction booklet in rage and frustration. It was sooooooo so easy to put together and get up that I ended up with a whole free afternoon (I had planned on fighting with something like this for some time and blocked out a whole afternoon to do it), I had both sets complete and assembled in under an hour. The biggest hassle was deciding where in my yard I wanted to place her kennel. Complaint: I wish there was a lock mechanism on the door latch, a place where I could put a pad lock if I wanted too to make sure it stays secure-er. Granted if someone really wants my pup they can just lift the kennel (with some effort) or easily dismantle it, but still, a lockable latch would bring a bit more peace of mind in not making it TOO EASY to get into. ... show more

  • Excellent quality and value...
Assembly: This kennel was easy to put together and easy to set up. I bought mine for indoor use. I am a woman who hates assembly projects, but was able to do it by myself. I only needed help carrying the box into the house. After that I was on my own with just a pair of pliers. Everything assembles with bolts and wing nuts, and I only used the pliers to tighten the wing nuts. Over all it only took about 45-50 minutes to assemble. My only complaint is why is it broke down into 8 sections? It would be easier to make it into 4 solid pieces, but who knows what the manufacturer was thinking. Use: The Lucky Dog kennel is very sturdy and heavy enough that the dog can't lift, knock over or chew their way out of. I would not recommend this for pitts, rotts, or mastiff types that are prone to massive chewing fits...they would not hurt the support bars but would definitely chew the grid/fence links. It is totally suitable for German Shepherds (my dogs), Labs, Husky, and smaller dogs. I also want to point out this kennel was made for short term or temporary housing and time outs. It is not big enough for everyday 24/7 kenneling of any dog. Other than that this is great for indoor training and supervised kenneling. ... show more
