I went to Italy 6 years ago and stayed at a vineyard where they make their own organic olive oil. This Lucini olive oil tastes so much like that in Tuscany; it’s the only kind I will use.

It tastes like what you can get at the store and is 1 1/2 years old. I cannot say if it is any better than a store bought brand.

If you go to the Lucini website, you will see that they have non-organic and organic EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil). The bottle pictured here is not the organic variety although the label does say "We do not chemically treat our olives”. However, the oil that was shipped was indeed the Organic variety and not the bottle pictured here. The Organic variety is in a 500 ml (1 pint) dark glass bottle. The certified organic variety has a large red bar across it saying "Organic". They actually have two organic varieties - cooking oil and salad oil. The salad oil is called "Lucini Limited Reserve® Premium Select Extra Virgin Olive Oil 100% Organic" I have attached a picture of it from their website. By the way, California Olive Ranch acquired Lucini Italia Olive Oil in Jan 2015. Both companies saw it as a good match since they share the same standards of quality and authenticity. Both will continue to operate under their own labels. Lucini oil is wonderfully flavored EVOO. There is no comparison with some of the cheap imitations out there. Life is short - don't buy the cheap crap. If you eat better, maybe your life will be a little longer and a little healthier. Be well and of good cheer. ... show more

    • Noticeable Character
Well listen, I'm not Mr Olive Oil, but I do have a pretty sensitive palette, and the first time I used this oil for something other than cooking, I noticed that it had a lot more character than the "fake" Colavita oil that I bought it to replace. Seems to be able to take a little more heat too. The cap on my bottle arrived with a little dent in it, so its not as smooth as I would have liked, but moreover the pour spout and the cap work pretty good compared to some. Which is actually kind a of a big deal for me...I hate it when the bottle gets all oiled up. The only reason I knocked off a star is that it's just too expensive for me. I splurged this time so I'd have a baseline to compare less expensive oils to. ... show more

    • Received this 3 times, only once was it actually "Premium Select"
The first time I ordered this I received what I ordered, Lucini, Extra Virgin Olive Oil Premium Select. The next two times, as others have also noted, I received Lucini, Extra Virgin Olive Oil; not the same item. Not sure that I'll bother for a 4th time.
