  • Comfortable and the wheels aren't noisy
Style: Mechanic's Roller Seat
Package arrived on time. Opened the box and there's almost nothing to assemble; the casters are already attached, so you simply slide in the hydraulic post and pop on the seat....Voila! I'm using this at a retail store to sit on when working on lower shelves. With a linoleum floor the casters don't make much noise at all. Seems sturdy enough. The seat material seems okay, but probably wouldn't last as long as some of the more expensive stools. That being said, this will probably be used 1-2 hours per week, so I think I'm good. ... show more

  • Came together w/ no problem in about a minute, but CASTERS ARE CLANKY & LOUD
Style: Mechanic's Roller Seat
This is the third mechanic stool I’ve bought altogether, all different brands. First one was from Harbor Freight (Pittsburgh brand, their house brand), just under $20, and still in use after many years, though the ball bearings might be louder now, but that’s normal. The casters roll smoothly & quietly, otherwise. Second one I bought was WEN brand—just got it a couple months back for around $40. It’s a best-seller, not only here on Amazon, but is also available on other online sites, as well as at brick & mortar stores like Home Depot. The materials are sturdy, BUT the stem/pole doesn’t seat into the base completely, so there’s no secure attachment, unless you alter the piece to fit, which some customers have had to do, because you can pull the stem out easily (ANYTIME!), which means you can also fall off of the stool, if you’re really heavy or lean over too much. It’s a mechanical defect, and one that many customers have complained about. For this reason, I wouldn’t recommend it, unless you’re handy and can fix the problem yourself. And now we arrive at this Aain mechanic stool. This brand costs more, but uses cheaper parts. The casters are LOUD & AWFUL! The noise of them rolling on hard floors will FILL the room, the sound echoing off all of the hard surfaces. The WEN stool (and even my old Harbor Freight stool) roll quietly, not only in comparison to this Aain one. They FEEL cheap, too (not too knowledgeable about materials, but I think they use aluminum housing, whereas the other two I bought use stainless steel). And I should add that pandering to the patriotic types by including a “free w/ purchase” doo-rag w/ an American flag motif isn’t going to work on ME—I’d rather just have a quality product that’s worth its higher cost. 👎 I’d say the seat,, seat stem, and tool tray are fine—pretty standard. The seat material is cheaper than the one used by WEN brand—another shortcut this company takes to save money on their end, while still charging customers more. The highest compliment I can give this stool is that the assembly was quick & hassle-free (esp. after realizing that the WEN brand stool was defective, and not an inadequacy in my ability to assemble furniture). So, would I recommend this? Well…probably not enthusiastically, but I guess it does the job. There’s a lack of integrity on their part by using cheaper parts, yet this being a more costly product than their competitors, so I leave the decision to you. Personally, the casters would be a TOTAL dealbreaker for me 💯—I’d look for another brand that uses better parts. If you have the opportunity, ask others who have mechanic stools if you can try theirs out, or if they have recommendations for or against a particular brand. ... show more

  • A fantastic stool!
Style: Mechanic's Roller Seat
For the price this stool is just what the doctor ordered as far as I am concerned. Why can't all of the things I order from Amazon be this easy to assemble and so well constructed. it is comfy and perfect for my setting at my workbench as I repair and build electronics projects. I need to be able to get around a little without standing due to peripheral neuropathy and it rolls easily on my garage floor which is not the smoothest. The seat is just the right firmness. I couldn't be happier with it and the price is great. ... show more

  • Seems Well Built
Style: Mechanic's Roller Seat
I bought this for working on some cabinets that are too low for my taller stool and the adjustable height is perfect. I almost gave it 4 stars because the padding is a little thin but kept it at 5 stars for the quality and price.

  • Work on knees is painful - Using this to paint baseboards
Style: Mechanic's Roller Seat
It assembled easily right out of the box. Though it gave instructions for how wheels were attached, that part was already complete and just needed to insert the seat into the wheeeled part. I played around with the lever a bit to move up and down and it did adjust easily. I put it on the lowest setting to scoot along my hardwoods to paint baseboards. It worked! I know I will find other purposes (my husband used it to scoot next to the toilet to reattach a seat that was loose.) too. Very good purchase. ... show more

  • Junky Casters
Style: Mechanic's Roller Seat
This is a relatively nice little stool. However the casters are a very weak point. They do not swivel nor roll smoothly. In fact on a nice smooth floor the wheels don't even roll. They just drag along. I'll see what else is available but if need be I will keep this thing and buy five decent casters.
