I attached most to the 4x4 railing supports. However, on the lower part of deck where it is about a foot off the ground I used the forks into the ground then used the clamp attached to the studs. This made a very solid mount. The lights I bought are very light weight and there is no bowing anywhere on my deck. The only issue is the plastic insert your suppose to use when attaching to wood. The instructions are wrong where the drill hole is too big for them. Don't use them! ... show more

    • Good product, easy to install and use. Watch the "weight" of the lights you are using.

These poles are very easy to put together and then install in the ground. The only issue we found is that with the lights we used they seemed to bend the poles and or were too heavy. Going to check and ensure we had them tight enough to support the lights but overall a good product.

Bought two of these for our back patio and put one in each corner. We ran the lights from our house to the pole. So far they have held up really well. We live at the top of a hill with high winds and they haven’t budged. They look so nice at night and light up the patio great. I want to get one more set of lights to string in between the two poles to connect the patio to complete the look! This was easy to install and put into the ground. I like the idea of the stability spike, but unfortunately it isn't extremely stable because there is only one stability leg. If it were two legs, it might provide more stability.
