VERDICT: 4.45 stars (among brand name, budget, wireless combos). An above-average general use keyboard + mouse for home office. Nice gift for someone wanting a nice, quiet wireless setup for home/work, or casual gaming. A decent price for a combo (just under 50 bucks), considering that we've seen far worse keyboards alone for around the same price. BEST FEATURES: + Batteries included; 2 Duracell AAs were present in both mouse & keyboard. + Keyboard (K545 model) has 3 height settings (flat, 4 degrees, 8 degrees) and a non-detachable wrist rest (not padded but OK). + Low-profile but not 'chiclet keys that are relatively quiet. Membrane type (not mechanical), with some spill resistance. + Dedicated on-off switch on both mouse & keyboard. Some dedicated (and reprogrammable) keys -- including volume controls and calculator. + Keyboard & mouse work with a Logitech Unifying USB dongle (included if you don't already have one). + If needed, you can use Logi Options software to customize some keys/buttons and make other adjustments on both mouse & keyboard. + Mouse is a M510 wireless, average/medium sized, with reprogrammable keys (via Logi Options software), but does not have all the speed adjustments a true 'gaming' mouse would have. It's fine for casual gaming, or office work. - Logi Unifying receiver (the little USB dongle) is included, if you don't already have one. Range is approx. 5 to 10 meters (15+ feet). MINOR DISLIKES (no points deducted): Some of the extra keys could have been better chosen or placed, and the white lettering on the keycaps is thinner than ideal (but still ok). Mouse has no 'speed' adjustment buttons, but the pointer speed can be tweaked a bit under Windows accessibility or mouse properties if needed. NOT GOOD (minus 0.2 points): The included tiny paperwork was useless; miniscule text, and it was only the required safety/use stuff; for a real manual or instructions, you'll need to look online-- search for "logitech k545 keyboard manual". Considering how many nice features (esp. reprogrammable keys) you'd never know about without proper, legible, documentation, the lack of such here is unforgivable.     • PLUG AND PLAY...Quiet keys---GREAT combo
I bought this combo to replace the same model (but different number) that I purchased 4+years ago when they still went by Logitech on the keyboard. And yes, it uses batteries, but I have only had to change batteries 1 time. 2 AA in each (batteries included by the way). My old keyboard still works fantastic but alas the mouse died a year ago so had been using the plug-in mouse supplied with my Dell. Love that you just plug the adapter in and everything is ready to use. Quiet typing for that late night gaming or business. And fast response. No key lights, but my monitor makes it visible for me. The mouse is oversized so fits comfortably without having to grip hard like smaller ones. No hand cramping! I just hope it lasts longer this time. Too expensive to replace just the mouse and I don't want to have purchase this again for long time. 1 plug adapter, so transferring if you have 2 computers like me is simple!     • UPDATED: REPLACEMENT WORKS GREAT!!!!
**update I received a replacement keyboard and mouse today and they both worked right out of the box, plug n play. This honestly is one of the best keyboards I have ever used and the softest touch is responsive. The mouse is a bit too sensitive and much faster in movements and clicks than my former logitech but i'll adapt. Initially, the mouse did not work out of the box and did not click at all. The replacement took a week but works as it should but I had a week wasted without a new keyboard that I had paid for. I'm not sure if the problem was Logitech or Amazon. But I received this brand new wireless keyboard and mouse combo today and the packaging was suspect. The box packaging, the mouse packaging all was badly tapped where it did not look like original packaging, but repackaging. Out of the box the mouse would work as in moving up down left and right, but it would not click. Either the mouse was defective out of the box, or this was returned by a prior user after they broke it and amazon repackaged it and sold it to me as new. In any event this, this was right back in the box and returned after waiting a week to get it. Disappointing ... show more
