This is a great small pot to use on the smoker. I use it to keep my glazes hot (don't leave the silicon brush in). As with all Lodge products, simply rinse and wipe with a paper towel or cloth. These arrived seasoned, but you waill want to see the directions for keeping it seasoned with oil. The Logde products are all heavy duty and can last generations of you keep them seasoned. Ah, this is a mighty good butter pot, when cooking. Comes in handy for BBQ sauces, and even warming up leftover soup. One night, actually made Cream of Wheat in it for supper. It is able to retain heat as is cast iron. Very sturdy, and compatible to daily living. Sounds like Christmas presents to me!! ... show more

I know there are little plastic bowls or glass cups that will hold hot basting liquids for our culinary needs, but this pot is cast iron - holds whatever basting liquid, regardless of how hot, and KEEPS it hot while the main dish is continuing to bake. ...SOMEHOW this thing ended up getting a little bit of rust on the outside. I bought this for my husband to use with his smoker. This is DEFINITELY a QUALITY company, so the rust was odd. He even seasoned it before use. He did not leave it in water to soak or anything, so we have no idea how that happened. Regardless, he continues to use it because, again, it was on the outside of it. It is SOLID & heavy. It works for the intended use. Due to the rust... I am hesitant to recommend it BUT it is definitely better quality than others out there! ... show more

I was looking for a small cast iron pot where I could melt butter, and other liquids together to blend; and this was the perfect little pot. As most cast iron pots do...it evenly heats your food all the way around. So you're less likely to burn your gravy, butter, or any other liquids that you're wanting to cook with... Clean up is really easy. Again... Like most cast iron pots, all you have to do is just wipe it out to clean. If you do need to use a little soap and water...just quickly pat it dry, and then just rub a little oil in it to reseason; and it's good to go for the next time. However, I have yet to have the need to reseason it. It stays preseasoned, very well. ... show more
