  • Well worth the cost.
I don’t know why this has thickness and sheerness for the questions. The thickness is not very and sheerness is not sheer. But this is a great product and works excellent. I used it on my kayak when I just got out to paddle around. It keeps most of the Texas sun off you. But I did knock it lose a few times while paddling. It didn’t make much difference with wind other than a couple of instances but overall a great product!!!! ... show more

  • Decent
Color: Camouflage 3
So got this due to my love for kayaking but fair skinned. It does as it supposed to do and blocks the sun. Stayed cool on a day that was in the 90's and even when it rained later, it acted as a umbrella. Got many of compliments and looks. The only bad thing is when the wind picks up, well it could get a little floppy, and to take it down will require to dock and get out. Other than that, great product and will continue to use. ... show more

  • Doesn’t work without modification
Color: Z-Mount Base
Bought this to install a canopy on my fishing kayak, as I planned to use the rod holders for fishing poles rather than the canopy poles. There’s no directions whatsoever but it’s not super hard to figure out. Only problem is the incredibly cheap parts. The biggest problem is that the base and piece that holds the canopy pole is entirely made of plastic, including the threads that hold the two screw ends together. The canopy naturally sits at an angle and will pop the base and holder pieces apart, no matter how tight you try to get them. The canopy holder also only has like 3-4 threads to screw to the base, which doesn’t help. You can only tighten them to a certain point before the threads slip and begin to strip out. While I liked the idea of this, it’s way too cheap of a design. The bolt that tightens around the canopy pole is practically useless since you can’t tighten the two pieces enough. There is a small hole that also goes through the base that attaches to the kayak, and I plan on just drilling the hole one size bigger so that the canopy pole fits into it. Can‘t really return it since the holes are already drilled in my kayak. If you’re handy and have time to mess with the design to get it to work, I’d buy this as a last resort. Otherwise, steer clear and find literally any other mount. This isn’t worth $18 at all, I could’ve rigged something up from the hardware store for less if I knew how cheap the pieces were. ... show more

  • Modified to fit on recumbent trike
Color: Red
I was looking for a canopy solution for my recumbent trike to block the hot summer sun and enable me to continue riding during the summer months. This is a very affordable option to "standard" recumbent trike canopies which can get very pricey. It will require modifications because it's intended for a kayak. These are not difficult modifications but you need to understand how this device works and adjust its length and its insertion points in the rear of the trike. In my case we had to enlarge the flag holes on the seat to be able to insert the poles (diameter was too big). The loop on the front will have to be tethered to a support on the front of the trike. The bungy that came with the canopy was not strong enough so I used a regular bungy which works fine. ... show more

  • Affordable Sun Shade - but too low for a kayak with a stadium seat type chair
Color: Black(oxford)
I am 5ft 9" tall, and own 3 of the Lifetime Teton Angler Kayak's. I purchased the orange shade and it looked really nice with the kayak I purchased and matches its orange accessories. The biggest disappointment is is it is simply too short for me with my current kayak. I tried raising the rear poles in the rear fishing rod holders with putting a couple rag pieces in each, which I would not advise, as with little bit of a breeze, it snapped off, and hit me in the face. My kids thought it was hilarious, me not so much... It might be great for a different model of kayak, but with mine it simply won't work, unless there can somehow be an extension or new support poles ordered for this. I will say set up and removal is very quick and stores in a provided bag and seems like good quality. ... show more

  • Nice shade but in the way of paddleing
Color: Grey
Be careful which fishing rod holders you by to install for this if you don’t already have some installed it needs to be straight up and down also the fishing rod holders I have were too deep so I had to put skupper plugs in the bottom of them to make the shade high enough so it doesn’t touch my head other than that it seem to hold up very well although I did have to lean forward to paddle because I kept hitting my arms on it. It’s totally worth it for the shade though I burn very easily now I can fish without getting a horrible sunburn ... show more

  • Floppy, flimsy, and not great.
Color: Light Blue
For the money it's kind of meh. The device is generally easy to "install" once you put the non included mounting posts on. That part is pretty much a guessing game for where you want them. Once installed the covering is a bit too tall and flimsy. As the kayak shifts so goes the canopy. It's also not really wide enough to provide much cover for anything unless you only go out around noon and travel east/west. Overall it is what it is, I can't come up with a better design so we're left with what is out there.... ... show more
