I use it for trolling motor on my kayak. Great! Gives much more power than Lead acid batteries and weighes a lot less! I really love this LiFePO4 battery! Compared to the other deep cycle battery (12V, 35AH), this one can out put much more than current, giving much more kick to my motor. This is batter is really compact and light, I have no problem holding with one hand. When you go out with all your fishing gear, you will truely appreciate that! Usually, LiFePO4 batteries are deep cycle battery that can cycle about 4000 times, while Lithium ion battery is only about 500-1000. Havn't got a chance to use it that many cycles yet, but so far it's been great! The charger is also nice and handy. I had a lead acid battery charger, but that's not compatible with LiFePO4. I only went for the cheapest option (15AH) because I had my reservation on this battery. Now I am thinking of getting a larger one and keep this one as backup on my fishing trip. I appreciate they have an included charger as LiFePO4 doesn't quite have the same charge characteristics as lead acid batteries. A lead acid trickle charger should work to mostly charge many 12V LiFePO4 batteries, but it won't deliver a 100% charge. This also avoids any issues where you're not sure if the battery has an issue or your charger does since the same seller is responsible for both. You're not quite getting the charger for free though, as at the time I did the comparison, this battery with the included charger was a few dollars more expensive than comparable 15Ah LiFePO4 batteries. But this is definitely a good deal if you don't already have a charger that specifically handles LiFePO4 or with that mode. Speaking of charging, I unfortunately seem to have fried the BMS trying to use it with an old APC BE550G UPS that may have some issues with its battery handling (I don't think it's any fault of the battery as it's caused issues with other batteries too). It became sporadic in delivering or receiving power so I opened it up on the off chance it was fixable but everything seemed physically fine inside. It's made up of 4 large cylindrical cells that span most of the length of the case (the case itself was glued together, so I had to cut it open reducing the likelihood of actually getting it back to a usable state, but I wanted to see what was wrong). Black foam serves both as insulation and shock absorption to pack everything into the case. I did find the temperature cutoff probe just dangling, but that didn't appear to be the cause of the battery ceasing to work properly. It was also using fiber reinforced tape to hold the BMS on the set of batteries, but I think you'll find that kind of build quality common across batteries. So just be aware you could have thermal issues if you use these batteries in high amperage applications as the battery cells are essentially "well insulated" with the exception that it'll roast the BMS as it heats up. ... show more
