My bowl doesn't look like the picture. See the lovely mix of light and dark accents that ranges from sandy brown to almost black? The natural texture? The swooping wood grain that makes each part unique? The lovely curvature of the opening? My bowl doesn't have any of those features. I knew there would be some variance but my bowl looks (and kind of feels) like it's made of plastic. It's so boring compared to the picture. I got this salad bowl for my mother-in-law for Christmas. She has not been able to use it until now and she was hand washing it last night and noticed the water was leaking through the bottom. Bowl seems like it would be fine but product quality is lacking. - First bowl shipped to us was just tossed in a box and had wear marks inside. Look like what you see at a garage sale. - Second bowl was packed really well but unfortunately had a crack that started at the rim and extend down 5".

I liked the "wavy" look of this bowl which I also purchased in the large size. I've provided some photographs that I hope will eliminate all future "it's smaller than it looks/ I expected..." etc. The bowl is the size it states in the description & hopefully my photos can put this into perspective for people who have difficulty visualising based simply on measurements. For sizing, the bowl gets 5 stars. Unfortunately, as sometimes happens with hand-made items, there is a disconnect between the theory and the execution of what "wavy" is. I would not describe the bowl I received as "wavy". It does have an irregular top, but it is more straight diagonals than curves that achieves the varying heights along the top. (-1 star). The bowl is definitely NOT carved from a single piece of wood like most bowls of this nature, and what I expected considering the price/size ratio. Being pieces glued together, I would say the price should be significantly lower. Additionally, the bottom of the bowl is poorly done in the manner in which it is attached (-1 more star). The construction makes me quite leery of using for food since I question how well it will hold up to even hand washing. There is also some awful sticky residue from the sticker that was on the bottom. Since it is not on the side, I didn't deduct anything, but did want people who might be purchasing to know. I haven't yet tried WD-40 to see if it comes off because I haven't decided whether or not I'm keeping it. I am going to give it another week or so while I'm trying to think of a way for us to use it. It could be used as a key catcher on an entry table. Too bad we park in the garage and enter the house through that door which we have mounted a variety of hooks nearby to hang coats, purses, keys, and such. Picture gives the impression of a a very high quality wood design with look and feel of a hard wood. When you hold it, does not even feel like real wood. Cannot feel the seams, almost like it is a solid man-made material and color is not accurate to photo.
