This yarn is lovely to knit. (I would not crochet with it; I prefer solid colored yarns for crochet.) It makes a soft fine fabric, suitable for a top or lightweight sweater or a lightweight hat or scarf. The solid parts do not have sequins; the marled or tweedy parts do. The color I chose, Zanzibar, transitions from the solid red to the prettiest, softest, palest pink, with tweedy iterations in the middle. I took advantage of this when making the two hats. I pulled from the middle for the pale pink hat and from the outside for the red version. It made a S/M hat and a M/L hat with some of the tweedy yarn left over. I liked this yarn so much I ordered it again in another colorway. Some people complain about it splitting; I would say that it is lightly twisted; when knitting it did not split. The amount of sequins was just enough, in my opinion; they are threaded on an ultra fine thread. Beginning knitters could use this yarn to make a pretty item that looks more complicated than it is to construct. A very pretty yarn and reasonably priced for the amount and the look you can achieve with it. I will say that even though the label says it is a #4 (worsted weight) I think it is much closer to a #3. There is a lot of variation in the worsted weight category and this yarn is at the light end of #4 yarns out there. I used a US 6 (4mm) for the 1x1 ribbing and a US 7 (4.5 mm) for the Stockinette stitch (Stocking stitch) body of the hat. The yarn label calls for a US 8 (5mm) but I think the 7 was a better choice. ... show more

I am halfway or less through my first skein and I have had to cut the yarn in several places and retie in order to bypass very thin areas and snags. The yarn itself is soft but hard to work with because of the fraying thin strands. I’m very disappointed and it takes away from my shawl project enough that I won’t be able to gift the finished item. This is a horrible skein! MANY knots throughout with weird threads in some of the thin areas, as above. This shawl project is a failure because of this yarn! I’ve spent hours already and I am so frustrated. I’d like my money back! ... show more

Although the yardage is true the cakes are a little smaller than my hand, the weight is closer to a 3 light than 4 medium and unless your using a loose or mesh stitch the needle and hook size is closer to 3-4.5 mm. The yarn is thin and frays. Unless you are making something specific this will not work for most projects. ... show more
