I have 2 frozen shoulders and weak fine and gross motor strength due to that and long covid, plus pain. So this year we got an electric wheelchair for our son with Down syndrome so I could easily navigate with him for long periods that isn’t too heavy, easily maneuverable (handles tight spaces and corners well) and manageable (I got hauling straps to more easily get it in and out of our suv). It’s easy to fold and unfold, and it has a very cushy seat. I also added a luggage strap and buckle since our son was too big for the seat belt that it came with, just sewed it on the existing seat belt strap. He’s a very big kids for his height, so the seat belt that comes with should work for most I think. The great thing about this wheelchair is that I’m able to take the remote control and strap it on the back handles with a double clamp and duct tape since our 10yo is unable to navigate the controls. You can also keep it as is if your child can self navigate the controls. Ours can’t and this was the cheapest, lightest (at around 50 lbs) and easily modified so I can navigate the wheelchair easily. Our son is 135-140 lbs and at the highest speed, we can navigate through Six Flags with general ease (although it was harder to haul back into our trunk than get it out as our suv trunk is high as it’s a very large car). It has great wheels (both have wheel brakes with anti tip which is nice when we hit a large bump) that can usually navigate most bumps, except I forgot to lift both brakes on our first trip out (now I’m more cognizant).
