  • Good Unit - Poor Tech support
So far this unit works much better that the unit I replaced (2265 Liftmaster) , which was about 15 years old. The fact that it uses three RF frequencies vice the one in the 2265 seems to result in much better performance. I had a lot of trouble with the 2265 unit over the years, especially with the receiver logic unit, which I had to replace three times. Even with that, the range of the unit was always marginal. The reason I give this unit 4 stars vice 5 is that the Liftmaster Tech support is unsatisfactory. When I tried to get some help with the 2265 unit, all they did was read the troubleshooting page on their web site to me, which I was viewing on line a the same time. Very poor. Installation of the new unit was straightforward , but it would have been nice to have some installation instructions. I was able to use all the old hardware and wiring from my old unit. ... show more

  • Easy replacement for 23 year old unit
Had a new door installed and purchased this unit to replace a 23 year old pro unit that still worked. Chose chain drive because I didn't want to buy a new track. It was a easy swap out and install. Actually had my garage door install guy do it as he was already working on the system. So far, so good. The WiFi feature works great, the motor runs great so far, the dual lighting is a great addition. Regardless of new or replace (if it will fit) I would go with this model or even a higher model brand. The Premium series is built way better than the Chamberlain and others in the big box stores. This is the second time I have purchased something from 365 and they have been excellent both times. ... show more

  • Difficult to install and program
I chose the Liftmaster 8365 to replace a 35-year-old Sears unit on one side of my two-car garage. I chose this model because I have a second Liftmaster 8365 that was professionally installed on the other side 2 years ago. It’s proven to be reliable. This time I’m doing the work myself. Right away, I ran into a problem. The box was missing the installation and safety instructions. I had to download a PDF instruction manual. Not only was this additional work, but it’s a real safety concern for folks that cannot locate or won’t bother the find correct instructions. For my project, I was reusing the rail, chain and door hardware. I installed 2 new sensors and wiring, but the mounting brackets were difficult to install. I could not use the rail mount system because one of the rails was tight against a wall. I had to craft and install wooden blocks to bring the mounts out to the correct location. Liftmaster should include sturdy metal extensions of some sort to compensate for all the different scenarios. My installation seems a bit flimsy, but time will tell! When attaching the sensor wiring to the ceiling and walls, the instructions call for the use of “staples”. I suggest using insulated low-voltage staples. They are fussier to install compared to a staple gun, but less of a chance of damaging the wire. I decided to mock-up the entire system on a work bench in the garage in advance. I needed to continue using the old door opener, so didn’t want to get stuck with a half-installed unit. This gave me a chance to make sure the sensors were aligned and the controls were mounted and programmed properly. I dedicated a full day to the final installation of the motor. Good thing! I had to build new ceiling supports out of angle iron. Once the motor was mounted, I realized the chain was too long. This was because the gear on the old motor was mounted further back. Thanks to instructions on YouTube, I was able to remove 4” from the chain. And thanks to the previous day’s mock-up, final mounting and wiring of the motor, door controls and sensors went smooth. Wow, programming the door travel adjustment was a real pain! This is pointed out by other reviewers too. This was by far the worst part of the installation. Very confusing process involving up, down and program buttons. The instructions seemed clear, but I just couldn’t get it right. Took a dozen tries before I got it set! The old motor had a simple screw adjustment, and took mere seconds to make adjustments. I have about 8 hours into this project so far. I’ll leave the pairing to my WIFI and phone for another day! For my final score, I’m dinging this unit 1 star for the missing instructions, and 1 for the flimsy sensor brackets and 1 for the horrible door adjustment process. ... show more

  • Replacement opener for existing lift master garage door opener
I ordered this to replace my 27 year old 1/3 hp lift master garage door opener. It was an easy swap taking about an hour. The hardest part was programming the cars and the remote keypad that was included. Never fear there are a ton of YouTube’s, that took another 15 minutes. If you are replacing an old lift master this is the product for you. ... show more

  • MyQ garage door opener is a must have!
Normally I would not buy one of these if the first one broke down right after the warranty expired. (Something had gone wrong with the travel distance circuit board. It was cheaper to buy a new unit.) But this unit really impressed me. I really like the app for my phone. I can see what state the garage door is in. If it is open I can close it, or open it again from my phone. There is also a remote monitor that you can put anywhere in your house to monitor the state of the opener. ... show more

  • Lift Master 8365-267 Premium Series
I replaced it from an older model. The features are great and the app to use on a mobile device is invaluable. You know when you garage is being opened and closed. The unit comes with a keypad that can be used outside of the garage. The only issue I had is sometimes it takes two to three tries for the garage to close. ... show more

  • NO Chain or Trolley Kit Included NO WARRANTY if using chain from previous opener
Be aware that there is NO chain or trolley kit (to attach the chain to the rail) included. I had to order the chain and trolley kit separately from Liftmaster. The Liftmaster rep told me that there would be NO warranty if I used the chain from my previous Liftmaster garage door opener. The technician I hired opened the box, and was surprised that there is no chain included. He had to make a second house call to install the opener after the chain and trolley kit arrived from Liftmaster. Installation took more than 2 hours, because of chain adjustment time. (The wiring, child safety sensors, and braces to support the unit were already in place, from the previous model, so did not factor into installation time). This unit, the 8365-267 replaced my old Liftmaster 2255. It is a good replacement for that model. The T rail is the same, and can be re-used, without affecting the warranty. According to the Liftmaster rep on the phone, the 267 means that there is a manual slide lock included, to use in a power outage. There was no such slide lock in the box. I have no idea, then, what the 267 means, in the model number. How does it differ from the 8365? I don't know, and would not have paid more for the 8365-267. I like the keypad and the 2 lights. It seems to be working fine, installed a few hours ago. ... show more
