I watched a youtube video of an older guy and his wife putting this together, made it pretty easy. Just youtube the model number and you should find it. 2nd lifetime hoop, first as an adult, will stick with this brand. Only complaints is I wish it was more sturdy for bank shots, and wish the spring loaded rim was firmer. Both of those two things make it easier to make shots, so that might be a positive for some. ... show more

Received the basketball hoop in a reasonable amount of time but when I gave it as a gift and started putting it together it was missing a part and had a broken part. A phone call to Lifetime and the replacement parts were on their way and received quickly. Great hoop for around the house.

I've had a permanent 10-foot rim in my driveway for 30 years, but needed something a little less challenging for my grandchildren - this seems perfect! It's very high-quality and sturdy, and once completely set-up it adjusts up and down fairly easily. I believe it will work out very well until the kids are ready for the fixed 10-footer. And now for the caveats: 1) I assembled this w/o help in about 3 hours, although the instructions clearly state that two persons are needed. All the parts were in the kit, well-packaged, and clearly marked/ID'ed in the instructions. The instructions were very clear, and you need to be careful to follow them - exactly! And if you do attempt to do this alone (which I don't recommend!), the most challenging part will be attaching the assembled rim/backboard to the pole/base assembly - be warned! 2) Once you've successfully mated the unweighted pole/base to the backboard/rim, the front of the rim and the front of the base (where the pole is attached) will be on the ground. Filling it with sand (which they recommend) is simply not possible in this position, and I found getting the assembled unit into any reasonable position for filling the base with sand to be virtually impossible (!). Filling it partially with water (which is what I eventually wound up doing) is easy however, makes moving the assembled unit easier, and also enables you then to push the entire unit upright. Once upright, the base can be filled with either sand (still a pain) or water. 3) I elected to use water (I only filled it about half-full), and in order to increase the stability of the assembly, added several bags of pea gravel (~150 lb.) on top of the back of the base. I cut a bunch of PT'd 2X4's to fit under the gravel bags, but that was probably overkill... I've attached a pic of the completed assembly (on the right in the pic) - it's set to its minimum height (8 ft.), which just barely enables me to jam (a tennis ball!)... ... show more

This basketball hoop is a great hoop for the price. My son absolutely loved the hoop and I have been able to move it around easily when needed. You do need a few sets of hands to put it together, but once it is together it is slam dunks from there on out!

Can't tell you much about assembly and such because it was a purchase for the grandkids and Dad is the one who put it together and it's at their house. Only thing I was disappointed in was it didn't go low enough for the grandson (5 yrs. old), but that just encourages him to keep trying. And if I had read the description better I would have known that it would be to tall for him. Otherwise it looks like a good, sturdy piece of equipment. ... show more

had mine professionally installed by a very competent installer -- but was initially disappointed with build quality, backboard is very flimsy and as another reviewer mentioned, it's not truly adjustable. Draining the water/removing weights and taking the entire basket down just to adjust the mechanism is not a viable "feature". But I could live with all of that for the money. What i can't excuse is that I was just outside shooting and after a shot hit the front of the rim, the entire backboard came down several levels and caught itself. Major, major safety issue and now I'm supposed to undo the entire thing and put it back to my preferred height? Nah... good thing that didn't happen on a layup! I should have paid more and gotten a better product. Let's see if any support comes through on this. ... show more
