Had a little difficulty assembling the deck box. It was missing 2 pieces of hardware. However Customer Service was excellent and sent the parts out immediately with no questions asked. This is sturdy, attractive and holds the 8 large cushions from my patio chairs. It appears to be water resistant because there are no observable openings for rain to seep in. I am reviewing this after owning it only one day, so I suppose its possible there may be something I don't like about it that comes to light in the future. For now, I'd say it is pretty sturdy, appears about as weatherproof and critter proof as you can expect. Get a small carabiner or clip of some sort on the lid hasp to keep it tightly closed. It took me maybe two hours to assemble it. I was able to do it by myself except for about two minutes when I asked my spouse to hold the lid in position while attaching the hinges to the box. It does take a little arm strength and some familiarity with using tools helps. And a fair bit of space to assemble it. I'm guessing it will last many years on our patio. ... show more

We ended up hatching ducks this year, and we needed an enclosure for them. We build a fenced in duck run, and ended up using this as their weatherproof house. The box is durable, and easy to assemble. We cut a hole in the back to let the ducks enter and leave as they wish, and they seem to like it. The box us nice and durable, and we frequently stand on it to reach things on the top of their duck run. I needed some additional storage space and decided to try this deck box. It went together easily in about 30 minutes. It holds more than I had anticipated (i have 2 sets of golf clubs and multiple covers for furniture along with folding concert chairs and there is still plenty of space). I bought this large deck box so I would have storage for my garden items. As a smaller older female , I was able to assemble it over 2 days. It was moderately hard, the screw holes were not predrilled so it took pressure on each side when screwing it together. It definitely would have been easier with 2 people, but I got it done. Using the YouTube video gave the easiest to follow instructions. When I got to the very last piece, the pressure arm, it wouldn’t snap on in one place. After trying my best, I contacted customer support and they immediately shipped me a new piece. I now have a great ,sturdy deck box that went through a powerful rainstorm and remained completely dry inside. Highly recommend ... show more

    • Cannot withstand sunlight -- the top lid has shrunken and warped beginning after only 7 months...

This was formerly a five-star review..now it is one-star. The top lid is made of a very cheap grade of plastic, apparently without UV stabilizers, and so the chemical plasticizers have apparently begun evaporating out of the plastic and it then it started to shrink. As the shrinkage continued, the screws connecting the metal framing strip at the front of the lid got ripped out of the holes in the lid. With more than 40 years living and recreating in sunny Florida, I have never seen a poorer example of plastics engineering for outdoor products. I expected my kid's cheap plastic outdoor toys to disintigrate after a few years -- but all of them lasted longer than this. CLEARLY DEFECTIVE. Now what? I can apparently have the lid replaced under the 10 year warranty, but will I have to do that year-after-year? Dear Lifetime, please make sure that your plastics engineering team sees this review, as well as my excellent original review. This problem is on them and your reputation is being ruined. ====================ORIGINAL FIVE-STAR REVIEW================= Headline: Excellent design -- instructions could be better. The box itself is great. Very solid design and construction. There were several places in the instructions where it wasn't immediately clear which fasteners should be used, and I found myself reading and re-reading until it was clear. This is a minor complaint and it was partly on me because I was in a hurry while building it. The one most important thing to note is that you MUST use a socket wrench on the four 'dimpled' nuts that hold the hinges to the box. The thread-locking feature of these nuts requires a lot of torque to tighten them. ... show more
