  • Fits, and the water tastes great
I had a bad experience with an aftermarket filter that was 1/5th the price of this OEM filter. The aftermarket filter wasn't as capable of filtering as the OEM and the water still tasted of chlorine. In addition, the aftermarket filter messed up the filter housing and I had to carefully realign the filter housing in the fridge with a pair of needle nose pliers. This filter on the other hand is a snap to install and remove and the water tastes great. I realize that this filter costs about $10/mo but it is worth it, to me, to get clean water and not mess with aftermarket filters that might cause much more damage to the fridge than the savings from the filter itself. ... show more

  • Better than the knock-off filters
Name brand refrigerator filters are always more expensive than their Chinese equivalents. The equivalents aren't always the best choice, however. All of the reviews I read for the different knock off brands for this filter claimed a combination of (1) it didn't fit, (2) it leaked, (3) the taste was off, (4) poor water flow rate, and (5) they do not last. After reading those (I did not find any that didn't list at least two of the above), I purchase two of the the OEM filters. It helped that Amazon offered a Black Friday price. I had no issues with the filter that came with my refrigerator and so will have no issues with the ones I just purchased. ... show more

  • Works Fine
I've been ordering these for a while now - the last one didn't clear the chemical taste - the filter wasn't working properly and had to replace. This one is fine but took a few extra twists to lock into place. Note: Make sure you really lock into place. Mine locked but chemical taste was still there and line didn't sputter (releasing air in line and filter) when I installed it. Took it out and reinstalled and went a bit past the 'lock' feeling to tighten (as recommended by users on another site). That did the trick. It sputtered and I filtered out 3 gallons. Tastes great! ... show more

  • So much better than knock-off brand!
We bought a house with an LG fridge and I use the water for coffee, drinking and even the dog. I was going to buy a new fridge because I hate the dispenser, it shoots out with way too much force, you can’t fill a glass without it shooting over the edge and it smelled like chlorine. Previous owners had bought a three pack of the popular cheap brand and left the extras but I thought we would try this filter before getting rid of fridge and it made such a difference in the water-doesn’t smell like bleach anymore and the pressure coming out is even a little better! Never again would I buy the cheap ones. ... show more

  • Works as expected
While tempted to try one of the lower priced aftermarket brands, I shied away after reading reviews stating lack of fit, chemical taste, etc. The LG filter was an exact fit replacement and installed easily. After flushing with the recommended 2-1/2 gallons, clarity and taste are both fine. I do think LG should price them a bit more competitively, especially with a recommended 6mo replacement interval. ... show more

  • Works but at what cost
Works as expected, I bought cheap chinese ones and the water blasted out of the dispenser at 800 PSI so this was a welcome replacement bought out of desperation. That said, it's extremely expensive for just one. I am going to try the Amazon generic knockoff next which comes in a 3 pack for $10 less than 1 of these. ... show more
