  • Lexivon Butane torch
Size: Iron Kit
I have used my torch as a soldering Iron and has worked very well every time I have needed it. I would order it again for sure. Once you get the hang of rolling the electronic starter its a snap and its a great tool to have in your kit!!! Size is perfect, very portable with many tip attachments and good heat level!!! ... show more

  • B.A. addition to my tools
Size: Iron Kit
Exceptionally well made product. Works perfectly and gets hot in seconds. Very, very useful! Not heavy or bulky feeling, but feels heavy duty in the hand. No weird "burn in" smell when first heating up the different tips. Highly recommended to everyone looking to cut the cord.

  • Quality build and feel
Size: Torch Kit
Works well and many tip options. Has a sturdy and quality feel to the unit with easy to change tips. The case makes for easy storage. Easy to adjust heat and flame length. Easy to operate. Large enough to feel comfortable in the hand, yet small enough to easily use almost anywhere

  • Very nice
Size: Torch Kit
Everything about this item is very nice. It works well and feels like super nice build quality. My only grip is the safety slider under the light button. Every time you push the light button the safety slider moves to the off position. Sometimes it takes a couple of starts to get the flame going and if you are using it outside the breeze can easily make the unit flame-out. After you have slid the safety slider a dozen times you will start to find it clumsy. It does not just slide over, it has to be moved in two directions. ... show more

  • My favorite tool
Size: Iron Kit
I’m a marine electrician who does a lot of heat shrink and soldering in the field. This tool is the best thing out there for both. It’s way faster and easier to use than my old electric soldering iron and heat gun. It very effectively shrinks heat shrink without charring it. The kit has everything needed, including good solder. This is by far my favorite tool. Off label - the heat gun function also works great at vaporizing certain “medicinal herbs” without igniting the plant material (my preferred way to consume said herbs). ... show more

  • Update: Great customer service!
Size: Iron Kit
I increased my rating to five stars from one cuz of great customer service. After I emailed the manufacturer explaining my problem, they got back to me the next day. After answering a few questions and sending a photo of the serial number, they sent a whole new unit to me and a prepaid label to return the old one. The new one works as it's supposed to, so I upped my rating to five stars. The LX-770 is a really nice torch and soldering iron for a great price. It heats up quickly and burns for a long time on a charge. The kit includes a number of useful soldering and other tips too. One thing you should know that isn't on this Amazon page: the company says only 3X-refined and higher butane should be used, not just "premium" or "high quality" gas. (You can find up to 14X butane out there; I never knew there were different kinds.) But the impurities in regular butane will cause it to not work well and will damage the torch, the company warns, so buy the 3X or higher stuff. It's a bit more expensive, but not much. My original review: This torch had so many good reviews, I really expected to love it. And I did, for the first two days. I planned to use it mostly as a soldering iron, and for two small projects I tried it on, it was great. But then today I was using it to solder some resistors and wires to LEDs. And when I was using it, or when I set it down, it just would stay lit for a short time, and then go out. I could still hear the gas flowing, but there was no flame and it got cold. It would relight, but then the same thing. This happened over and over again, so it was not a fluke. I tried pushing the lock button as far as possible. But the only way I could use it was to keep and hold the safety lever down with my thumb. Which I am not going to do long term. (I am using high-quality 5X butane.) My only choice is to return it. Although I like the design, I am reluctant to buy another Lexivon because of this experience and will probably try another brand. So disappointing! ... show more

  • Excellent Butane Torch
Size: Torch Kit
This is a well-built and versatile device. Although a 5-star product, there is room for improvement making this a 6-star item: 1. Add a fuel gauge window. 2. Make the safety lock optional or do away with it completely. IMO, the safety switch is unecessarry and frankly a nuisance because it must be engaged on every ignition attempt (it may take multiple tries to light). The ignition thumb button requires a decent amount of force to depress and extinguishes as soon as it is released. If a child has the strength to depress & HOLD that button and the wherewithal to simultaneously engage the flame lock, then the child would certainly have no problem figuring out the safety switch. The good news is, this switch can be easily removed by removing 5 Phillips head screws, carefully removing the housing, and removing the switch and the associated small spring (see pic). Reinsert the larger spring, align the thumb button into the recess, and reassemble. Regardless, still a great product with many uses. I mainly bought it to heat & soften ½" underground irrigation hose lines for repair using barb fittings. Yes a heat gun can perform the same, but, the convenience of not needing to drag out a 75' extension cord and the small form factor when huddled in a small hole makes this an ideal device. There are certainly cheaper solutions, but the build quality and versatility of this unit sold me. It's excellent and I look forward to trying out the other features it offers. By the way, I have two of these units and burn Zippo (from Amazon) butane in one and Bernzomatic (from Home Depot) in the other. Both burn fine with no issue and produce the same flame output. Neither of these butane products make any mention about the "refined" purity and and I'm a bit of a skeptic re the 3x, 5x, 11x, 99x "refined" no-name products based on some of their reviews. My only advice is to be sure the stem of the butane product correctly fits the torch. In the case of the two products I've used, no adapter is required, although I believe the Bernzomatic provided the best fit and least amount of lost butane during the filling process. ... show more
