We're in the process of getting an EV, so we wanted to have a portable charging option. Tesla is too cheap to include one with their car--what's with that?!? It's like a regular car manufacturer not including a gas cap with their car.... So, rather than pay Tesla for one and make Elon Musk even richer, we decided to try this one. Fair disclosure, I haven't yet had a chance to try this out because just as we were about to purchase the car, Tesla decided on a whim to increase the price of the car by 10%. Crazy! So, we're going to wait for the end of their quarter when they typically offer better deals. That said, this charger is nicer than I anticipated when I ordered it. It comes in a nice, sturdy zippered carrying case, and everything about it feels solid. The cables are beefy, the charger body is stout plastic that is nicely molded with no sharp edges, and the charging plug feels solid. This definitely has the look and feel of what you'd expect from an OEM device, not some cheapo knockoff. I especially appreciate that the charger has a quick guide printed on the back to show you exactly what the different color lights mean when the charger is in use. I plugged this into the wall and got a steady blue light, which means that it is in standby mode, which is as far as I can take it without a vehicle to plug it into. Once I have the car, I will update this review if the charger doesn't perform as it should (not that I anticipate any problems).
