    • It's yeast, it works.
I'm a relatively recent bread baker, having taken it up in the last 3 years because I feel like if I'm going to be eating bread, I may as well have it sans-preservatives, right? The yeast seems to work as well as Fleischman's and Red Star, refrigerates well, freezes well, dissolves fine in warm water, activates well. Besides, it came at the right time (was running low, and all the panic-shoppers kept buying up all the freaking yeast. Jerks). ... show more

    • Good rise, great value!
I didn’t start baking for the quarantine, but I’ve really learned more about it and been more regular since. This was my first venture beyond the 2.5 tsp packets and I was pleasantly surprised. After watching numerous YouTube vids, I chose this brand (I’d only ever used Fleishman’s) and when it came, it was vacuum sealed like a package of coffee. I tossed one package in the freezer and divided the otherr into two small brown ball jars. Adding a label including the “use by” date, I started my first loaf of whole wheat bread in my bread machine. The loaf is as good and light as any I’ve produced from this recipe, maybe a bit more rise which is fine with me. Looks like I’m good for the apocalypse! ... show more

    • Check this Sellers' "Feedback Page" prior to purchasing. I wish I had!.. It is really BAD!
SELLER is Wisdom eShop International storefront only 47% positive in the last 12 months Very Upsetting! I am a well seasoned baker having ground my own wheat & made MANY batches of daily bread as well as sweetbreads while raising 6 kids to adulthood over 44 years & baking with my 23 grandchildren, Red or Gold SAF instant has always been my go-to yeast. It's never let me down, until now. I tell you, THIS YEAST IS DEAD! Even mixing it with sugar & water as a test batch, which is a fool-proof way to know if your yeast is active, but, NO BUBBLES, NO RISE, and IT WOULD NOT EVEN DISSOLVE! Here are 4 more issues that makes this situation even worse: 1). I have purchased a total of about 10 of these 1Lb. kegs while I was out of State. Now I am left to wonder "will any of them have viable active yeast"? There are no dates on them... I didn't know this because again, I was out of State. I sure don't want to have to open them. If they are okay, that diminishes their storage life, even if I keep them in the freezer,.. plus l don't have the room in my freezer. Why is there neither prepared nor expiration dates on any of these packages?? 2). These are UNUSEABLE! I tried to return the kegs that I now know are dead, but apparently they do not except returns, [which is understandable during Covid], but they will not even give me a refund! I read the 'sale page' several times but never could find where it stated that that is their policy. 3). This most recent order, I should have gotten 4 kegs but instead I only received 2 from the Sellers. After I contacted amazon about it, 2 more were sent to me ... IT IS THESE KEGS [to my knowledge thus far] that HAVE the DEAD YEAST! 4). Based on the sellers' price, I recommended these to MANY of my family, which I am certainly regretting, as they too have purchased yeast from this seller! Why is there NEITHER PREPARED nor EXPIRATION DATES on any of these packages?? ... show more

I am SO disgusted. I finally located yeast and when it arrived, I couldn't find any expiration date on the package. Feeling very uneasy and disappointed. Self isolating from the coronavirus and need to start making bread.

I've used Saf-Instant yeasts for as long as I can remember. I'll use any variety, but I do find that the gold (intended for higher-sugar baking) gives an extra rise to the dense heavy dough of my bagels. Will continue to use Saf-Instant until they stop making it. I definitely recommend the Gold for heavy as well as sweet dough applications. ... show more

    • Great yeast to work with to make bread!
Seller was great to work with. Still not 100% Still not 100%surr what exact conversion is from a us yeast like Fleischmans (sp?) So I am still experimenting, if anyone has a good ratio explanation that would be great. Seller shipped very fast, product was more expensive than normally as yeast us hard to get right now, but it is not the sellers fault per say as supply and demand. Very happy to have the yeast to be able to make bread etc. Thank you ... show more
