I bought this citric acid after watching some YouTube videos about cleaning the upper toilet tanks in my bathrooms. I'm in a rural area and use well water so there is no chlorine. Consequently, I get algae growth in the toilet tanks, and it is a chore to keep them clean. I don't like to use a lot of cleaning chemicals that go into the septic system that can disrupt the biological breakdown of the solid waste. I am amazed at how well and easy it works. Very little scrubbing and they have remained algae free since. I also cleaned a couple of old stainless steel insulated coffee mugs I have. The insides were stained black after years of use. I had previously tried soaking them in white vinegar with little cleaning effect. After letting them soak with citric acid inside for a couple of hours and a little scrubbing with a stainless steel scouring pad, they now look like new inside. ... show more

I decided to use it to clean a cat water fountain that had bad lime scale buildup in it, although I had scrubbed and scrubbed previously. This was so much easier and worked like a charm! Having hard well water that leaves rings and stains in my toilet, I bought this to clean the mineral stains from my toilet tank. It works Great, and I bought it at the best price available. Here's how to make it work. Turn off the water supply. Empty the tank of all water. Add citric acid according to label specifications and refill the toilet tank with 'Warm' to 'tap hot' water. Stir the water really well and walk away. Check on the tank in a couple hours after stirring occasionally. You will see that all of the dissolved minerals on the inside of your tank have been removed. Flush the tank; wipe up all the deposits at the bottom of the tank and on the working parts with a sponge; turn your water back on - and voila, you have a totally clean toilet tank again! ... show more

Does an amazing job cleaning the dishwasher. I disassembled the spinner and filter, applies a slurry of this and used a brush to scrub; reassembled, added the specified amount in the detergent dispenser and ran a cycle. Afterwards it looked like new!
