    • This Bacon Maker is a Game Changer!
I bought this Lekue Bacon maker because the price of the pre-packaged microwave bacon is SUPER expensive and I wanted something that would cook bacon without making a mess in my kitchen. Now, I have to admit, I cook bacon for my family about 3-4 times a week-my family loves it. I received the bacon maker yesterday and used it this morning. I did 6 slices, I set the microwave ( mine is a 1200 Watt microwave) for 3 minutes and out came crispy bacon- super easy- no mess. I'm guessing if I had a lower wattage microwave I would add more time but this higher wattage cooked the bacon at 3 minutes. I was able to remove the bacon maker from the microwave without any potholders-the handles don't heat up. Once I removed the bacon, I drained the grease ( and there was A LOT captured in the grooves) right into some paper towels so it wouldn't go down my sink drain. I'll circle back in the next couple of weeks to give any updates but for now, its 5 stars in this household. For cleaning, I put it in the top rack of the dishwasher and it cleaned it well, ready to go for the next morning. Good purchase, would recommend. ... show more

    • Bacon Cooker with a Lid for less splatter
This is the only microwave bacon cooker I could find that has a top to protect from splatter over one's microwave. At least I did not see lids on other models. I have used this about 3 times and it works great. The bottom shows some slight color fading where the heat was intense, but there is not melting or warping. Bacon comes out fine. And yes, nearly all the grease splatter is pretty much prevented by the lid. My only complaint is that the grease funnel is located in the middle of the side, whereas the corner would be a much better location. Using the funnel on the side is tough to avoid spillage. I use the corner now anyways, but a funnel in the corner would be ideal. Overall, I am happy with it. ... show more

I have used & love Lekue's 'corn popper' & 'steamer' . Disappointed with their 'bacon cooker'. It needs a better design with getting the top off (especially when it's hot).

If you haven't tried microwave bacon, this is the cooker to try. The cooking time for the bacon is not a one-size-fits-all, so be prepared to overcook and overcook, sometimes under cook if the bacon's thick cut. The flavor is suitable with this method. I wouldn't be surprised, after more experience with the cooking time, if I wouldn't then give it 5 stars. Washes well in the dishwasher, top rack. Easy to clean. ... show more

At first run I burnt my bacon. The 2nd run it undercooked so i put back in until I got it right. I realized you have to empty all the greese out between cooking. All in all you need to read the instructions before cooking better than I did. It would be really cool if it was big enough to cook entire package of bacon. ... show more

Works as described on Amazon. The primary reason I bought this was to expedite my bacon cooking and it's BPA free. It does state this on the paper wrapping also to confirm. I took off one star because it's made in China and feels like it, and should really be priced several dollars cheaper IMO. No plastic or synthetic smell after use.
