Description

Froach pods are a healthier way to cook eggs, combining the principles of both frying and poaching into one revolutionary design. These innovative silicone eggs rings feature a small reservoir on top, into which you add a few spoonful of water. As the water heats up during cooking, It turns to steam which flows across the top of the egg, cooking It to perfection. Meanwhile, the base of the egg cooks as normal on the hot pan but won't stick due to the presence of moisture from the steam. Apart from a small amount of oil needed around the inside edge of the pod, you only need to add water, which means that froach pods use up to 95% less oil than with typical frying. Only suitable for use with non-stick pans. Full instructions included.

  • Not great at poaching eggs, but still a great product
Not great at poaching, but don’t let that deter you from buying these. They still make great eggs. The eggs come out uniformly round and the yoke is centered; and the steam definitely helps cook the tops. I would say that by the time the bottoms are cooked, the steam has cooked the tops enough so that when you take off the pods, the less cooked top part of the egg won’t spill down the sides, but it doesn’t hurt to flip over the eggs for a few seconds to finish cooking. I would say that these pods make the perfect eggs for an egg sandwich, or if you’re looking for perhaps a nicer presentation alongside bacon and hashbrowns for your house guests… that kind of thing… but they really don’t make a poached egg. Obviously in the description it doesn’t say that it makes poached eggs, but rather “froached” eggs; and definitely more towards the fried part of that spectrum rather than poached. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised with the thickness of the silicone. Compared to many other silicone products that I have bought in the past, these are substantially thicker. Other reviewer‘s have remarked that the water leaks out of the bottom... and they do, but I don’t find that to be a concern at all. The key here is that the eggs don’t leak out of the bottom. As long as you don’t put in too much water at one time (as instructed), the leakage is minimal and it boils off quickly. It’s water people! What are you worried about? A real poached egg is cooked in a bath of water, so why are you worried about a teaspoon of water leaking out of the bottom into a hot pan? It makes great eggs, just not poached eggs... I do not regret buying these at all. I’m going off on a bit of a tangent here, but if you want a perfect poached egg, invest in a sous vide machine and poach them IN THE SHELL. The sous vide method will make fantastic poached eggs. FYI, eggs straight from the fridge into 167° water for 13 minutes and then an ice water bath for one minute. AND, you can even cook them one or two days ahead and keep them in the shell. This is extremely convenient if you’re trying to make your family or friends some eggs Benedict. When you’re ready to eat them, you just crack open the shell, heat them up in a pan with butter for a minute or two and you are good to go; and that is how you make a perfect froached egg... and trust me, a real froached egg will probably become your favorite way of eating eggs from now on if you do them right ... The only reason I am mentioning all of this is because if you’re looking at this product, clearly you like poached eggs and I’m telling you how to make them properly and easily, LOL. ... show more

  • Good Concept, Poor Execution
These rings do not work too well. I've followed the directions exactly and they still leak egg white and water. I've even verified the flatness of my grill and they still leak. They clean up easily, but like all silicon based cookware, they retain odors and change color. I've used them 10 times before writing this review. I don't know what else to try to improve their performance. I may exercise my return right sooner than later. Thanks ... show more

  • Great product for breakfast sandwiches!
I absolutely love these things! I love a good breakfast sandwich, and, these are not only easy to use, but the eggs come out cooked perfectly, tender, and the perfect size for an English muffin. I read a lot of reviews complaining about the water draining out of the little reservoir — it’s supposed to do that to froach the egg. I have recommended them to everyone I know…one of the best things I have bought in a while! ... show more

  • I need to practice
This works, but I have a tendency to over cook my eggs.Maybe with practice I'll do better.

  • Reviews are not for the product listed. 4 stars for the fried egg helper, 0 stars to Amazon.
Amazon, will you pleeease stop mixing reviews for different products on the same page? I count reviews for three different products on the page I'm seeing. No, Amazon, a spatula isn't the same product as an egg poacher. But you're throwing them all together, making the reviews and ratings meaningless. The silicone ring for making fried eggs is splendid. The water/steam thing doesn't work because the water leaks out the bottom. But I wasn't using that anyway. This thing is good at what I want it to do. If you're reading this and don't know what I'm talking about it's because Amazon put this review on some unrelated page. ... show more

  • Comical to watch yolk suction through the hole. Works like a charm.
These little things work amazingly well. I’ve tried other kinds that ended up in the trash. Don’t know why I bought yet another one, but sure am glad I did. I always buy the jumbo eggs and at first I thought, oh no, the yolk won’t fit through; it fits just fine. It’s really cool. There’s a slight 3-4 second delay and then that yolk slides down. We get the biggest kick out of watching the yolks seem to be sucked down onto the pan. They don’t ever stick to the silicone mold. I just use the egg shell half to put a little water into the water spot. Works perfect. For sure this is worth getting. ... show more

  • Great Product, But...
These are great for cooking or froaching eggs. The water does leak out a bit, but I have found that just using a smaller amount of water, and “refilling” when the water streams away, cuts down on the leakage. The steam that is trapped in the egg compartment is enough to steam the egg. Perfect for prepping eggs for breakfast sandwiches, especially for meal preppers. ... show more

  • Pretty nice gadget
After a few attempts at using, I think I'm homing in on what it takes to make a poached egg to my satisfaction. At this point though I haven't decided how much of the lingering inconsistency is due to my technique and how much rests with things outside of my control.
