Description

Cuisipro makes poaching eggs foolproof. Unlike other "poachers" that use a solid cup that floats on top of water and steams the egg, the new stainless steel egg poacher has a cup design that clips to the side of the pot and allows the water to circulate around the egg for proper poaching.

  • Would you like plastic chemicals with that?
We were looking for a stainless steel egg poacher in order to avoid the nasty chemicals that can leach out of nonstick coatings, and I was pleased to find these, which have stainless steel cups. However, when I read the directions, I was surprised that they said to add water to the fill line--which appears to be on the plastic part, above the top of the stainless steel cups. In that case, water would come in through some of the holes in the plastic part and onto the eggs. I've read that hot plastic can release hormone-disrupting chemicals. We did find a solution: we added water to only a low level, below the top of the steel cup, then watched carefully to be sure it didn't boil up to the level of the plastic and didn't boil down enough to burn the pan. That worked. For some strange reason the egg did taste more bland than eggs we've poached in other poachers. We'll see whether that happens next time. Two other things to know are, first, that if you adjust the height of the metal rods on the handle part of the poacher, the angle of the egg cup will change, which may in turn change how high the water can be if you use our low-water method, and may mean that the handle won't be at the right height to hook over the edge of the cooking pot. So, the cups may need to just stand there in the water, free-form, on their own little metal feet. (And they do indeed stand stand up on their own; they don't have to be hooked over the edge of a pot.) Second, we found that an average "large" egg was able to fit into the stainless steel cup without spilling over onto the plastic, but an extra-large one probably would not have fit. If you don't poach eggs very often and are willing to fuss with these egg cups a bit, they may be worth buying, as opposed to spending, say, $70 for a stainless steel pot with an inset that holds several all-stainless egg cups. ... show more

  • Works ok but be careful
It does what it says but you need to take in mind that the handle will also get quite hot and since it's mostly metal. You might want to consider using something else to grab it instead of only relying on the handle

  • Excellent product but received used item
This egg poacher works great. Very easy to use and clean. I have nothing bad to say about the product, but I do think I was sent a used product. The 2 poachers came packaged in a ziplock sandwich bag and were not completely clean. It wasn’t a big deal to me because I frequently buy used products, it just wasn’t what I was expecting. I cleaned them thoroughly and have been using them for several months with no problems. ... show more

  • Ehh
Stuff sticks to it then wont easily come off, so re-using in quick succession not really possible

  • They do the job but...
These eggs pouches are a great idea and they do the job but they are not that easy to clean. I follow the instructions of spraying oil in them before placing the eggs but it does not completely avoid that some of the egg white stick to parts of the cooking area. Maybe I am not doing it quite right 🤷♀️ But they do the job ... show more

  • Not impressed
I've been making eggs Benedict for many years. I usually heat a shallow pot and add vinegar and then add the eggs when I have the water at simmer. I then scoop up the eggs with a wide flat stainless steel spoon strainer. I place the egg on paper towels to absorb residual water and then place it on my English muffin. I followed the instructions and was not impressed with the outcome. The reason I bought this was to keep the egg contained so that I would not have pieces of egg white floating in the pan. I disliked having to scoop the floating egg whites to discard. I also had to lightly scrub the whites that clung to the sides of the pan. The first thing I noticed was that the whites floated into the water outside the pods. So the whole point of purchasing these pods failed. I'll credit that the eggs shape was retained when I removed it from the pot when generally the white edges were irregular. I also wonder why the holders are lined with have steel. I ouched when I picked up the pod. The manufacturer couldn't go the extra inch to ensure that the customer doesn't come in contact with the metal part of the handle? Yes, it gets hot. For the price they certainly could have done better. I am really not impressed and disappointed. I'm back to scooping out the floating albumin and scraping the sides of the pot. So me on this product. ... show more
