This was a great Christmas present for my 13-year-old son he got it put together in one day. I've had so much fun with my now 7 year old grandson, building both the conventional/traditional Lego devices, but also we've done some large Technic devices (1,500 piece sized) and love those too. But of all the Lego building sets we've purchased (probably 40-50), this was my Grandson's favorite. So often the larger sized traditional sets (my Grandson calls them "dotters") can quite easily come apart just with a bump. This one is really quite solid. And he just loves how the entire top opens in a way where he can access it and play with the figurines and play act as kids do. A definite must for Lego aficionados. ... show more

I purchased this for my grandson that lives in another state because he is into legos now. He hasn't worked one with this many pieces before so this will be a challenge for him. He was very excited to get it and he told me when he starts it he will let me know. I can't wait to see the finished product. My son bought this ship, and absolutely loves it. A few small engineering problems: 1. The front landing gear is to far aft/rear. Pushing down on the front of the ship causes it to tilt downward. 2. The secrete cargo compartment does not have a stop when pushing it closed. So it goes beyond the closed position… and gets stuck. My kids love the Lego star wars sets. This one is by far their favorite. It gets played with all of the time. I wish it came with more characters though.
