  • A Gift For Child
Product came on time. Was a hit for the person it was bought for. Had numerous hours of delighted playtime with this game. I personally have not played it, but kids do love video games.

  • Beyond Gotham a great family game despite some issues
The LEGO video game series has become a constant in the industry: a franchise where the games are entertaining, family friendly, and most importantly, fun. When it comes to being family friendly, that doesn't just mean it is suitable for children. The LEGO series biggest strength is that parents, children, and those with basic video game skills can have fun playing together. LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is no exception as it captures the same feel as found in its predecessor LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. The story begins with the heroes of DC Comics facing off once again against the DC villains until a larger threat - Brainiac - threatens the planet, at which point the two sides work together to defeat the extraterrestrial android. (His appearance as the primary antagonist was teased in LEGO Batman 2.) This storyline has some coincidences with the rumored plot for the DC Comics cinematic universe which begins in 2016. For fans of DC Comics, the game features 150+ playable characters which should see most readers favorite personas in the game. However, for those who only follow the mainstream franchises (Batman, Superman, et al.), prepare to spend some time on Google learning more about the more obscure characters. Playing through the game, it is evident that the developers and design team did their homework and are passionate fans of DC Comics. It is not always evident (sometimes to the contrary) if a studio is truly interested in the subject matter at hand, however that is not the case with the LEGO Batman team. The game wisely includes characters and a level devoted to the 1960s Batman series. With actors from that show getting older in age, this was a great nod to give them a proverbial tip of the cap. Without that series, who knows if Batman or even comics in general would have been given the television and theatrical treatment they have today. This is not to mention the pop culture influence Adam West and company still have even today. LEGO Batman 3 does such a great job with the 1960s series, I could not help but feel perhaps it deserved its own game or additional DLC at some point. Speaking of DLC, the Season Pass is relatively inexpensive at just $14.99 for six packs. The packs include: Dark Knight Trilogy, Batman 75th Anniversary, Man of Steel, Arrow, Bizarro World, and the [Suicide] Squad. The DLC levels are rather short, but do include a bevy of additional characters. While the game builds on the fun factor found in other LEGO franchises, there are some frustrating technical issues within Beyond Gotham. The fixed camera angle in local co-op sometimes will let you move your character off-screen or find it difficult to see to the edge of certain areas in a world. There are also instances where it is extremely difficult to change your playable character, so much so that I have found myself avoiding playing as Superman or Martian Manhunter whenever possible, for example. Overall, LEGO Batman 3: Beyond is very enjoyable with high replayability as users work to find items using the bevy of characters while earning trophies/achievements. Despite some issues, the game is fun and I would especially recommend it to those who desire for their video games to be accommodating for the entire family. LIKES: - Bevy of characters - 'Details' that show dev team are fans of DC Comics. - Family-friendly DISLIKES: - Issues with Local Co-op Fixed camera angle - Issues changing characters in some areas when using Superman, Martian Manhunter, etc. - Short DLC levels ... show more

  • I'm Batman
I am a huge fan of the lego games so I had to get this game. I feel like I made the right choice. The fun was super fun. Though it has it flaws which I'll get to. The game takes place pretty much where lego Batman 2 ended. The story revolves around a Brainiac wanting to shrink Earth down to the size of a basketball to add to his collection by harnessing the power of the 7 lantern corps. Now the Justice league must team up with the enimies to save the planet. From there you visit such locations as Oa, Gotham, the Watchtower and even...."the moon?". Unlike past lego games we dont get one huge open world hub city. We instead get 10 small ones that we go to via a portal. These are based on locations in levels. There is a hub of Watchtower, batcave, hall of justice/doom (its two places counting as one), Oa and the other lantern worlds. Some might not like having a bunch of smaller hubs instead of one large one. I for one liked it. Its easier to find characters to unlock, quests, etc if they are all in small areas. Like past lego games, the game features a large collection of dc characters from Batman, Superman, Booster Gold, Firefly, etc to even celebrities cameos (Kevin Smith, Adam West (the game's citizen in peril) and Daffy Duck as Green Loontern) even talk show host Conan O'Brian is in the game as a NPC. as funny as he is on tv...he is annoying in the game. He appears in some of the hubs as a tour guide explaining what each section does. It is funny what he says...the first few times. But he never says anything different. So everytime you are in that area you have to hear him say the same joke. He didnt need to be in the game. The game features really good dlc. In the past we might have just gotten new characters and maybe a few missions. This time we get a few character packs including a Batman Beyond themed pack. But the best is of course what we get in season pass. It comes with 6 packs (Dark Knight Trilogy, Batman 75th anniversery, Man of Steel, Arrow, Bizaro and Suicide Squad). They each get 1 new level (6 total) and combined we get over 40 new characters. For $15 for season pass thats a great deal. The writing for the game is funny as they make even the most serious great to listen to. Like other lego games, the camera is horrible. A mission might get tough if the camera goes out of whack and you might loose yourself. If you love the lego games and/or comics. Get this game. Pros: -Fun -Easier to navigate through hubs -Large roster of DC characters and celebrity cameos -great dlc -writing Cons: -Conan O'Brian -Camera angles ... show more
