    • The best of three comparable Amazon hearing aids I've tried
I have had intermittent hearing problems over the past three years because of bouts of swimmer's ear/glue ear. (There's also old-age sensorineural HL mixed in.) So in the process, I've bought three different types and brands of "hearing appliances" in the $100-$200 range here on Amazon. Failure to regularly clean the tips of my various bluetooth earbuds and hearing aids only complicated my diagnosis by introducing and persisting fungal infections, so for me regular cleaning/lavage with hydrogen peroxide seems to be the first key to preserving my hearing. The first "Coniler" "hearing appliances" I bought here were quite effective and I still like them, but they're a behind-the-ear model that gets snagged when I change eyeglasses. I bought this "LEEL" model in May 2022 (I *think* it's this model: my Amazon Orders page links to a Product Not Found--as with many of these Chinese devices, the model numbers/vendors here on Amazon tend to be fluid). I originally bought these LEELs as a backup gift for a friend who had constant problems with his $4000 prescription hearing aids. He couldn't get these to work satisfactorily, so I took them back and tried them. At times they worked splendidly for me, but at other times there was a lot of squealing. So when my ears started acting up again last month, I bought a pair of "BIBIED" in-ear devices because they had a lot of positive reviews that seemed to have been written by humans. The BIBIEDs are ok, but in the process of fitting them, I discovered that for me what the LEELs needed was a large, double-dome tip: the smaller dome keeps the in-ear device in my ear, while the larger, outer dome blocks feedback and squealing. (Fortunately, the BIBIED tips fit the LEEL hearing aids.) A nice touch is the electric eye that turns the LEELs on three seconds after the eye goes dark when seated in your ear. All three models advertise(d) some kind of noise cancellation/reduction, but I couldn't detect any. On the other hand, even my $300 noise-canceling stereo headphones failed to appreciably cancel any noise, so I never expected much from that claim.
