  • favorite reliable headlamp!
Style: Mh10
I actually own 3 of these because of how great they are. They're powerful. The light intensity is adjustable. You can adjust the spread of the light as well. The light can be tilted to go from straight ahead to tilted downward. It's pretty comfortable to wear though your forehead can get warm. Battery life is pretty good. However, the recharging connection is Micro USB. Boo. This means you have to be somewhat careful with how you plug in the cable. Don't laugh but I primarily use them when working inside a computer or some kind of enclosure like tight metal structure. Great for working on a car or in the dark. It's just so nice to be able to work on something without having to hold a light. Wherever you look, the light is right there. ... show more

  • Does work as described. Full review from practical nighttime use. LED Lenser MH10
Style: Mh10
I have used this nightly for over a week now. It uses one 18650 battery and can be removed to charge or use the cord and charge it while the battery is loaded. I have done both. It is easier for me to just charge with the cord. It is bright. It is almost a neutral warmth, meaning it enhances surface texture to a slight degree. What this gives in a real sense is bright, but not washed out. My work environment is outside. All weather. In the last week, it has been rained on and nearly frozen and simply worked. I am not aware of being rated for all weather, but it works for me. Battery life is easily as claimed. I know I use it for 8 straight hours on high and it still was a solid beam. The headband is lighter than any other I have tried, yet durable. It adjusts easily and is almost unnoticeable. The light has modes. Click to turn on, fast click to turn off. While on, hold the press a tad longer and it dims to maybe 70%. Hold longer again and it dims very low, maybe 20%. Fast click or held click it then goes off. The light swivels down, and is well designed for that function, as it will adjust, and easily in a clicked stage for each angle downward. At the recommendation of a mechanic friend I bought this. I had gone through 4 other lights from other makers. Each prior had problems like poor power use, so despite even having two 18650 batteries, it would last maybe 5 hours. That was the best of the others. Another used two AAA batteries. Dark in 3 hours. On sum, this IS the best light. Lightweight, long lasting light that does not wash out what you are seeing. Some other lights have multiple LEDS. Those are brighter, but the wash out bright. They also get hot. This one barely warms. From my mechanic friend, he has had this same MH10 light for over a year. It is still as good as day one, save for the grease on the headband. Note, that Dawn with water can get some of that out. ... show more

  • Excellent for many purposes, especially so for its intended purpose
Style: Mh10
I researched headlamps like I research everything I buy - far too thoroughly, spending inordinate amounts of time agonizing over details. In this product category, my top determining factors were: long battery life, swappable batteries but with integrated charging, multiple operation modes, durability and weather resistance, light weight, no extraneous and unnecessary fussiness, and of course comfort. This fulfilled them all. You'll find, if researching these like I did, there are a befuddling number of rather drastic trade-offs between manufacturers and even models from the same manufacturer. Ultimately you'll have to establish your top priorities. You won't find a product that clearly excels at everything. But to provide enough light to safely walk outdoors on the lowest setting getting 10 lumens and get 120 hours on a single charge of a standard 18650 battery, I mean... Wow. 10 hours at 600lm. Can you get much brighter? Of course you can. But I can use this for everything I need it for without worrying about it, or noticing I'm wearing it. If you're looking for something with similar specifications to mine, this is going to satisfy you also. ... show more

  • Loving this Headlamp
Style: Mh10
I usually run about 50 miles a week training for ultra marathons. Because a lot of the races go into the night, I like to train before the sun comes up. My previous headlamp was a ThruNite TH30. Excellent headlamp with a nice warm color and plenty of flood to light up my surroundings. This problem with that unit is that all of the weight is in the front and it sticks out enough to accommodate the 18650 battery. This translates to plenty of bouncing and some discomfort - especially if you wear it with a hat (i usually run with a backwards cap on to catch sweat). I saw this Ledlenser product and loved the idea of it splitting the weight with the majority being in the rear. That part of it is every bit as good as I was hoping. It's super comfortable and there is no bounce at all. The product features say you can remove the battery casing and put it in a vest or something, but realistically the cable is too short and hard wired, so I wouldn't count on that. Despite that, you can barely feel the weight on the back of your head (it also has a little red light on that battery casing, though I'm not really sure it's enough to depend on to alert others of your presence). Being able to focus the beam is cool, but that's also where my star deduction comes in. It doesn't seem like it gets wide enough and it's a very hard line to the beam. This means that if you're running in the darkness, you're only seeing what is directly in the beam. The ThruNite was much better in this regard because it had a main bright area, but also plenty of flood so everything in front of you was illuminated. The only positive I see to the Ledlenser's sharp focus is that if you're racing an out and in and passing other oncoming runners, it's much easier to avoid blinding them. I haven't run this unit in deep woods yet, but I am a bit concerned about only being able to see what's directly in the beam. Because the unit uses 18650, you can basically run it forever. The batteries are cheap and lightweight, so you can just tuck extras in your pocket or vest. One other negative - this product still uses micro usb. Unacceptable to me in 2023 - it needs to update to USB-C like all other modern electronics. I won't deduct a star because of this pro-tip - you can get 18650s with built in usb-c ports for charging. No extra charger required and you can charge a spare while the light is in use. ... show more
