I ended up getting this because I wanted something just to occupy my mind. I am a bit too old for games, but not for sports. This is a really heavy duty hoop. Made out of metal. A lot of other hoops are made out of plastic. But the rim and the supports are all metal. I am not sure why they had to use lock nuts for this. I have been a handy man for decades. This makes no sense. It is really hard to get the nuts to start on the bolt due to the rubber in the nut. There is no way you can use the cheap wrench they provide to start the threads. You WILL need a socket so you can apply pressure on the nut as you are turning or good luck. I would recommend to the manufacture to include just regular nuts. Comes with three balls that are nice sized and a pump. Comes with foam to put around the back of the board so you won't scratch your door. Keeps score for you. However, made in China. ... show more

Easy to assemble (my 9 year old did it). 2 ways to mount the board (over the door or screw in). The sound is way too loud...even taped up and muffled...still too loud.

I’m giving it a four only because the LED would not stay on and the screws had stripped the plastic. We tried to glue it but it semi stayed. I will tell you this the kids had a blast with it. It talks to you and plays when you score (it can be turned off). They played for an hour everyday with it. The hooks to hold it to the door are nice and it doesn’t scratch the door or the paint. We set this up quickly (as they promised), but it took a little bit of playing with it to figure out the scoring. There were no instructions on how the electronics work. There is a switch, and sliding it one way gives you a 60 second game, sliding it the other way gives you a 5 second shot game (Still not quite sure about that mode). Off is in the center position. The hoop is a little larger than 9", and the 3 balls are 6" diameter. The electronic score counter can be a little sensitive (we had some balls counted as two if the ball bounced on the hoop. The description says that there are 4 balls, the images show 3, I received 3 and I'm ok with that. I've wanted one of these indoor basketball goals for years so I finally just went ahead and got one of these and my son has been enjoying it quite a bit. The build quality is nice and assembly was easy. He said it's 5 stars so I'm giving it 5 stars. I will say that the electronic part is just annoying though. All it does is repeat a 5 to 0 second countdown waiting for you to make a shot. If you do, it cheers and shows 99 on the display. If you don't you get a buzzer and wait for the countdown to start again. Pretty underwhelming and kind of obnoxious. The LED lights are kind of cool though. I got this for my son when he moved into his first apartment. He's a sports nut - but more of a spectator than a player, so this is perfect. It's pretty sturdy - the backboard is relatively thick plastic and the scoreboard is mounted right on it. It has brackets so you can put it on a door. I was very pleased that it came with a little pump for the balls. We had it out of the box and were playing in minutes. As I said, the backboard is pretty sturdy - the rim and net are ok. They will not hold up to a dunk - but you shouldn't be dunking on this anyway. As long as you don't abuse it, it will last a LONG time.
