While I haven't used this product as much as I've liked to since purchasing it, that is no fault of the product and it is still something I come across every now and then and remember how amazing it is. The brown leather feels authentic and the look is something that initially drew me to purchase it. It has held up very well over the years for both drawing and journaling. It's ease of use and functionality is something I cherish. The thick, high quality pages are bound strongly, so strongly I would discourage tearing out any pages for fear of hurting yourself rather than the book. I have a collection of handmade journals that I use, and use up, as a writer. I really like this hand made leather journal particularly. I've purchased four of these in both the sizes. The larger size is great for drawing and keeping daily journaling. The smaller one is a bit more easy to tote around. The larger one can be a bit cumbersome for travel, but the paper is larger for writing extensively. I like my journals to be of similar size and look on the shelf so tend to stick to one size for myself. This is the first hand made journal I've had that the pages were sewn into the leather cover. The others that I have the paper notebook is replaceable. Those the paper is thinner and average in quality. The pages in this amazing leather journal are directly hand sewn into the leather cover in sections making it nice if you wanted to use it for a variety of subjects. The thicker paper of this journal literally causes the ink to just glide from any pen I've used. The paper feels hand-pressed, yet smooth. The most unique feel of any journal I've used. The paper has occasional spots or streaks here and there from the paper pulp on a few pages throughout the book giving it an antiquated appearance. It gives it a nice texture. I have gifted this journal a few times and the recipients raved of them also. The paper holds color well from colored ink or quality colored pencils. Paper is thick enough that the ink from a fountain pen does not bleed through. The journal comes with two velum sheets, I believe to separate the leather from the paper when packaged. I keep them in the journal and use between freshly written pages as I turn pages and keep writing as precaution to protect the previous pages from any not-yet-dried ink marks. The leather cover is soft, thick, sturdy, and authentic. The strap wrap closure is easy to use and a quick and easy way to seal the journal closed. The blank journal arrives in a clear, plastic seal bag and then put down inside a handmade linen drawstring bag. The whole presentation is very quaint. Only one of these four journals had a dead, dried, smashed fly between the pages midway through the journal. It gave me the willies but had to just scrape it off, circle it with a comment, and continue. I couldn't very well return it as I'd already written in it up to that point. It made me appreciate that these journals are truly handmade. Perhaps on someone's lap from a small village in a far away jungle , but handmade nonetheless. I do wish the price of these were more affordable for me as I would buy more of them more often. Every purchase I've made the price goes up a bit. That's not fun, but I get so much joy from writing and drawing in this journal because the paper is so amazing! I love the feel and look of the whole thing. These journals are really quite nice if you like fabulous quality. The smoothness and easy flow of writing makes me want to just keep on going. Love, love, love these! Highly recommend. ... show more

This is seriously THE most beautiful notebook I have ever seen in my life. The leather is undoubtedly real and is so soft to the touch. It has a subtle earthy, leather scent that sets the mood for your journaling or writing time! The wrap around closure string on this notebook gives off really retro vibes. Just looking at the notebook makes me want to write! The pictures don't do it enough justice. The paper on this journal is of unbelievable quality. They are thick and borderline cloth like, and writing in them makes me feel so inspired. They are a more cream color than straight up white like the pictures show, which I personally prefer because it looks so much more vintage and romantic. The pages are NOT refillable as they are bound into the spine, but that just makes you treasure every page of the book even more than you already will. However, if you make lots of mistakes when writing and you're a bit of a perfectionist like me, you should write in pencil first before writing everything down in pen. The leather does stain the pages (and probably your belongings if you shove them all in your bag), so be aware of that. I will probably find a cloth to wrap around this when I travel so I don't stain my bag haha. This journal was so beautiful that when i first opened it, I couldn't bring myself to write on the paper because my hands kept shaking. I did buy this on sale at around $23, but even if this goes back to full price I would not hesitate to buy it. It is SO worth the price and is much higher quality than other even more expensive journals that I've seen. It's no wonder why it has a 5 star rating with over 300 reviews. The size (7x5) is the perfect size to take on your travels or on the go without limiting your soace and creativity. If anything, I would be scared to put this in my suitcase in fear of it getting scratched somehow. >\\< If you like bigger notebooks though, they have a size up! Because the leather is soft and pliable, the flaps don't get in your way at all when you write. I admit I was a little hesitant on buying this because of the pages being bound in the book, and because I thought it wasn't very pretty from the pictures, but trust me. Whatever you see on the pictures isn't even a tenth of the beauty you see in person. The only con I can think of is that now, I will never be able to purchase any other journal because it will never compare to this one. I'll probably end up with a bookshelf of these by the time I retire :3 If I could marry an object, I would marry this notebook. ... show more
