  • Beautifully engineered lawn rake
This leaf rake is different and better in some respects than any rake I've used over the years. I'll try to explain why. Short version: the long, thick handle and light weight yield a great combination of balance, reach and comfort. Long version: The long handle is made of pieces that screw together snugly and securely. The tubular metal has a substantial diameter that makes for a very stiff handle that is exceptionally comfortable and still lightweight to minimize fatigue. The handle is super smooth. With gloves or without the smooth tubing is very comfortable. The business end, the "tines," is smaller than many rakes and therefore lighter. The smaller, shorter tine section creates a better overall balance that is much less tiring. While other rakes may be wider this one is pretty wide, so it works not just in smaller spaces but does the job raking leaves over medium size areas as well. The steel business end is more durable than plastic or bamboo. It therefore can be pushed a little more aggressively to scratch the soil surface a bit for overseeding. In some situations it may suffice as a thatch rake, or to remove creeping charlie and the like. Overall quality is excellent. I expect it is more expensive to make than wooden or bamboo rakes which at least party justifies a price higher than wooden, bamboo or plastic rakes. This rake earns five stars in my view though it does seem expensive. ... show more

  • Tines are stiff
I have a collection of different rakes and they get uses regularly. My favorites are the ones with the metal tines, since they work better for a variety of jobs that the plastic rakes end up being a pain because of the stiffness of the tines. I like the design of this rake. I have another rake (wooden handle) that has been around and has had a tendency to loose some tines. I ended up gluing all tines in place to ensure I don't loose more. This new rake seems to have the tines secured better than that old rake. This new rake is quite stiff and doesn't have the flexibility of tine that I prefer. Between the stiffness of the tines and the arch of the tines I find that the center of the rake makes contact, but the outer tines don't seem to be touching much. Seems that if the tines were straight instead of arched it would be more efficient with all the tines making contact. If the tines were more limber it might not make as much difference. But these stiff tines may have a different purpose where one may really need to put some serious pressure into your work. The other thing I ran into with a screw together handle is that the handle tends to twist and loosen when I try to put some extra pressure on the right side tines while working. Guess I'm used to a solid handle that doesn't give way on me like that. Otherwise, it appears to be a solid rake so far. I'll have to find particular jobs for it where I need the stiffer tines. And if the handle sections keep loosening on me, there is always duct tape. ... show more

  • Wow, it cleans up really well!
I didn't think this was going to do much good when i opened the box and saw how much smaller it was than I had expected. But gee was I wrong... Wow this CLEANHOME Leaf Rake works really really well. Surprisingly, though it is smaller it cleans up so well you don't have to make as many rakes over the same areas, so it's definitely worth it. It was a total cinch to put the handle together and it looks like it will hold excellently because of the design used. It's lightweight and easy to use. I sure am going to enjoy the work while using this tool. Glad I found it. It is a good rake. Note: The description says "adjustable handle", but what they mean is that there are three lengths of the handle, so you can you one, two, or three depending on what you need for the job you are doing. ... show more

  • Solid rake, easy to assemble
Very solid break considering it comes in four pieces. Compared to some of the other yard items that come this way, this items had threads for each of the pieces to attach, not just tube metal that interlock. My boyfriend doesn’t understand why I don’t use his rake, while his is a great rake it’s extremely heavy. This is much lighter and easier to use. The head is a little smaller than a traditional rake as well as the tines are a little shorter. Overall though it worked really well. For $26 it’s priced pretty comparatively two items at the big box Home store. I will reevaluate my review in about six months after I’ve used it more and adjust my score based on durability if warranted. ... show more

  • excited about this - great for kids!
As advertised, this rake adjusts to different levels, making it perfect for kids and adults alike. I ordered this because we only had one rake, but now that my 5 year old is old enough to help his older sister rake leaves and grass we needed another one. As shown in the picture, this adjusts to the perfect height for him! The second picture is what it looks like fully extended. It's made well too! ... show more

  • Defective Product
This Cleanhome rake comes in four pieces. The handle is three pieces. These three pieces twist together tightly to make a strong handle. Unfortunately, the handle does not twist together with the rake. Doesn't this company have a product inspection team? This rake is totally worthless. May be a one off defective product but certainly I can not recommend this product or the company. ... show more

  • Good rake for the job
I got this item since my former plastic lost some of its teeth's. It came in a very generic box so don't give ot as a gift :-) . The assembly was really easy. It's made from 4 pieces. Connect one to another and you have a great rake. My only concern is the handle. I prefer a wooden handle as it gives you a better grip when working in a wet invinroment, but this is not a biggi. I will give it 5 starts for now but I'll update in 6 months or so how did it help me to path the raking leaves season. ... show more

  • Light duty rake
This is a very light duty leaf rake. The handle is made of thin aluminum segments that screw into each other to make a long handle. That allows compact storage, but also it means the segments can unscrew during use. The black tines are also thin metal. The tines form a slight curve, catching leaves inside that curve but also results in the end tines being raised off the ground when in use. The times can bend when raking heavy or wet leaves. The light weight also makes it easy for long use. Overall, it works best for raking dry leaves. ... show more
