I've got really pale skin (NO drugstore foundation is pale enough) and I've had this product for a year and it's all I ever use for concealer. The light color is too pale for me! Yay! I mix it with a little of the darker. I'm using up the lighter color more--wish the amounts were reversed! I've probably had 10+ other concealers and I've never liked any of them. This is the most expensive I've had, but it's cheap compared to the habit of trying one useless one after the other! I use a tiny brush--a little goes a long way. It mixes well with foundation or face creams if I want something lighter. If you use it lightly, it's as invisible as I could hope for. Not much else to say, maybe there's something better but I'm done looking and will probably use this for life. My only complaint is that I wish the packaging were prettier. Or glam. Or SOMETHING! The dark purple/thick plastic looks really cheap. If I really start to hate it, maybe I'll scoop it out and put it in a pretty compact from etsy! Edit: I also mush some of the cheap Maybelline yellow-ish under-eye concealer into the corner of the darker pan because even though I have cooler-toned skin, I find I sometimes need some pale yellow to mix with either shade, sometimes. I just looked up swatches of SC-2 and what do you know, the palest shade in it is quite yellow-y. About the dryness, this concealer IS quite dry, but I like that--a tiny bit goes a very long way (I always use this in natural light because if I don't, and check it, I can often see some of the concealer on my face. I read somewhere that someone didn't like having to mix this with eyecream for the under-eye area, or to make it lighter, but do like having that possibility: you can't concentrate a too-sheer formula, but you can always go the other way with other favorite products. ... show more

This is, hands down, my 1 absolute must have product.. with possibly the exception of a good lip balm. I first found this Laura Mercier concealer about 13 years ago and have never found anything better, before or since. Not even the highest end concealers last as long, or cover, imperfections as well. A little bit goes a long way and, as embarrassing as it is to admit, I only replaced my last one b/c I realized that it was about 3-4 years old, been around the world with me more than a few times, and that's probably not great for my skin.. even if it still worked as well as the day I bought it. I have mature skin, and all that goes with the aging process so, for me, I think the key to using this concealer is to use it on very hydrated skin to avoid it settling into any little creases. I rarely, if ever, use a heavy foundation. I also swear by the Lumene CC cream in a light medium. Imo, less, or at least the appearance of less, is far more flattering... especially as we get older. On a clean, moisturized face, my daily routine is as follows.. A touch of a soft liquid shimmer highligher on cheekbones and the inside corner of my eyes, the cupids bow and bottom of my lips, a touch of soft pink blush on my cheeks and eyelids, and, of course, the Laura Mercier concealer wherever I need it. If I'm wanting a bit more of a finished look..maybe I'll go all out and use a soft brown, or bronze, eyeliner, a touch of mascara, and a pinky nude lipstick under my lip gloss and.. that's it. I'd read some good reviews about this product, so I thought I'd give it a try. In fairness, I haven't given it much milage on my face for a couple reasons. First of all, SC-1 is much too pigmented for my fair skin. I assume you're meant to blend the colors to match your shade, or you use them as correcting tints. Either way the result is far too much color. The left side is pink but too dark on an ivory complexion, making the skin look irritated. The right side is lighter, but very yellow and still a bit too dark. Using it around the eyes made me look like I had jaundice or fading bruises. Blending the two colors created a peachy-orange with the same effect. Secondly, while Secret Camoflage gave decent coverage, it did not apply smoothly with brush or sponge. With aging skin, any product that's so dry, sticky, or waxy that it tugs at the skin is unpleasant to apply. It does have great coverage, but sits on the surface of your skin. In other words, it's very opaque. I found that it did not blend well into surrounding bare skin or a less opaque foundation - even when set with neutral powder. The product reminds me of theater make-up. If you like or need that level of coverage and color, Secret Camouflage is a good product that works as claimed. I believe it would even cover a man's beard shadow, though the amount of product is very limited for that. But if you're very, very fair skinned with translucent, neutral, or blue undertones, you'll probably find SC-1 has too much pigment for a natural or blendable look. ... show more

    • Great concealer but case breaks easily

I love the product itself and have been using it since several years. Great to hide dark circles! However, the case always breaks after a few weeks which is annoying. Hopefully Laura Mercier can improve that quality.
