    • Great for beginners
If you’re looking for a laser that you can start playing with right away without learning software this is what you’re looking for. While waiting for this arrive I looked up Kentoktool JL7 on YouTube and found the companies videos. Also watched a couple user videos. I was able to learn how to use it and assemble it before ever receiving the diode laser. I also downloaded the app it uses, MKSLaser, and got familiar with using it. Once I received the laser it took me about 10 minutes to assemble because it really is that easy once you’ve watched the video. Within about thirty minutes I was using the laser with the app and the sample pieces that come with laser. Since my husband saw me using it right away he wanted to try to. He struggled greatly, even with me trying to explain things, so I highly recommend watching the videos of the unit on YouTube. I have also since found a FB group that’s for Kentoktool lasers and they’ve been able to answer questions and I’ve learned stuff from other users posts. This comes with everything to start tinkering right after assembly. Some card stock, a couple pieces of wood, and a metal plate to protect your work surface from the laser and safety glasses to protect your eyes. They are green glasses that you’d use with a plasma cutter but they are better than nothing. I do recommend this for any beginner, like myself. This isn’t a no name machine so there’s videos and groups available to make learning fun. Its a 10w diode laser so can cut lots of things, just not metal, but can etch metal. I have yet to make anything worthwhile because I’m still learning, but wanted to write this review from my “out of the box experience”. I will update my review if I experience any issues with the laser that aren’t caused by user error. ... show more
