I own two LARKSOUND sound bar systems, so that says something about my general satisfaction with the company's product. This is my second LARKSOUND system, and the least expensive of the two. I bought it to enhance the sound quality of a smaller second TV set that I use only intermittently aside from my larger screen set. The set on which it is used has small, tinny, anemic speakers that don't cut the mustard. It serves that purpose as a sound enhancer well. The sound bar sets up rather easily, even for a tech-impaired person like myself. Several options to connect the sound bar are offered, which matters. By pushing a button on the remote you can select a sound profile to use such as "movie" or "voice." I may be starting to have an issue with the remote, but will contact an available company tech support if needed. Speaker went out on my old Samsung TV and did not feel like dealing with replacing it so I bought this and used the HDM1 ARC option and it worked fantastic. Two comments: 1) This sounds great and was totally as expected but not for an audiophile. 2) The HDM1 ARC connection is in the back so if you plan on using it forget about wall mounting. I bought this to use at our hunting camp. The speakers on our TV were cracked and there was a lot of static during programs. Our TV has three HDMI ports but none marked HDMI ARC. So I plugged it in using an HDMI cable but got nothing but static. Next, I plugged it in using the Aux cable provided. That worked using that hookup. Only problem is, I also have to leave the HDMI cable connected for it to work. When I disconnected it, there was a high pitched whistling noise. As soon as I reconnected the HDMI cable, the noise quit and regular volume returned. Having two cables plugged in at camp is not a big issue although it might be if you are using it at home. When we set the sound ar to"movie" mode, it was extremely loud and we had to lower the volume which is great for what we want. Using the soundbar we no longer have the crackling and static that we had with just the TV speakers. It does the job for us. ... show more

Sound is okay for a 30 dollar unit. If you want theater sound don't buy this unit. I can tell you the sound is better than the TV sound and it aim forward. No really bass controls as the remote is useless. Remote control unit does not work beey well. You need to press the buttons many times before anything happens. I was thinking I was going to return it but then again, what do you expect for 30 bucks? ... show more

I bought this to use with a somewhat older TV on which one of the speakers started making an annoying buzzing sound. The TV's picture is still great, so I decided to try this speaker instead of buying a new TV, and am very happy I did. I'm completely impressed with the sound quality from something this low-cost. Note about my experience hooking it up: It didn't work with my particular TV when I tried connecting it with the HDMI or auxiliary inputs, but it works with the optical cable, which is included. (I didn't try the USB connection since I got it working with the optical cable.) So, if it doesn't work the first way you try to connect it, be sure to try the other options. ... show more

I got this to replace an old speaker that was going bad. I am very happy with this purchase because the sound quality is much better than my old one even before it started going bad, plus this one has a remote. The remote works well also. Edit: My cats knocked a metal display-tree thingy I have onto this and then jumped ONTO the speaker also and it still works great. Most of the one-star reviews are from people THINKING they know what they are doing. Here are a couple of KEY POINTS you need to know. 1: The ONLY way you can control the volume of this unit is by buying an HDMI Cable and connecting it to HDMI 1 on your TV. Turn on HDMI ARC or EARC and External Speaker (this will turn off the TV speakers; if you want them on, skip this) in the TV MENU. (Typically, HDMI ARC is HDMI 1, but your TV might differ. When you go into the menu, it will tell you which HDMI port to use). Once this is done, when you press your TV Remote or a Cable / Sat / Universal remote programmed for your TV, the sound bar's volume will change. ARC Stands for Audio Return Channel, and EARC stands for Enhanced Audio Return Channel. Whatever Audio is Playing on the TV is sent back out via this input and into the soundbar. If you use the Optical Cable, you MUST use the Sound Bar Remote as you can NOT learn the sound bar remote into any Universal / Cable / Sat Remote. So buy an HDMI cable and use HDMI ARC for easy sound control. 2: Blue Tooth only works with your Phone/Tablet and will not connect with a TV or any other device. So pair your Phone/Tablet so you can listen to your music on the soundbar 3: You can NOT power the device via the USB. Older phones/tablets connect with music via a USB cable or hard drives this way. 4: The aux input is NOT to plug in your headphones. If you have an older phone with a Headphone Jack, you can connect it via the aux cable, and the music on your phone will play through the speakers. This input lets you plug in any audio source with a 1/8" jack. These couple of things should help you out. Cheers. ... show more
