  • Excellent… for the price! READ this before buying
This chicken run is ideal for someone who is raising chickens in a large backyard and is looking to deter hawks and eagles from your flock. If you live somewhere rural (with foxes, coyote, wolves, raccoons, possum) you may need to get a more secure chicken run. Pros: - Easy enough to assemble. I’m not very good at assembling things but it took 3 people about 4 hours to assemble. - Low cost. For the money this is a great option! - Tarp. Comes with a tarp to cover the area where the chicken coop is placed. Can shield chickens from rain. - Large size. I only have 4 chickens but I think this thing is big enough for 10-15! - Door. It has a door which is nice! I’m 5’8” and it’s nice to walk in the chicken run with enough room above me. This coop is tall enough that you can walk in and clean but it’s not too tall. I was worried it would be too tall and be an eyesore for my neighbors. Luckily, It barely is visible over the fence. - Comes with zip ties and some wire. - Green colored hex mesh. I like this color it has! Cons: - Flimsy material. The hex chicken wire mesh material that it is made out of is not the sturdiest. I was hoping it would be more like chain link fence feeling material. If you have destructive dogs I would be careful with this chicken run. A dog could easily jump on it and break the zip ties holding it together. -Held together by zip ties and faith. The assembly feels like it may fall apart in a couple years. It’s being held together entirely by zip ties and wire. - Light weight. You might think this is a good thing but if a big storm comes through it would be concerning. I went to the store and bought some large screws to secure the chicken run to some railroad ties. I highly recommend securing it in someway so that it doesn’t blow away! - Aesthetics. It doesn’t come with any decor. Chicken runs just aren’t the most pretty thing. I purchased the round roof option because I want it to be somewhat aesthetically pleasing. To make it look cuter I purchased some fake moss tiles and made it look like a shrub growing around it. - Challenges cutting and wrapping the run. You will have to cut the hex mesh stuff at some point during the assembly. Luckily there is a little extra mesh if you mess up. Not a lot of room for error. - Low security chicken run. Make sure you lock your chickens up at night in their coop!!! Predators could easily weasel their way under the hex mesh. In my opinion the chicken run is good for during the day. I believe it will stop hawks from getting them. But at night I still lock them up in their coop to protect them from other predators. Summary: This chicken run is excellent for the price. In this economy everything is so expensive!! Glad this didn’t break the bank. To buy all the parts at hardware store will cost you more money!! In my opinion it is worth it if you are just doing chicken stuff in a large backyard as a hobby. However….If you live somewhere more rural that has serious predator problems, I would highly suggest buying something more secure and more sturdy!! ... show more

  • Coop
Pattern Name: Spire Roof Size: 157.2"L x 117.6"W x 76.8"H
Easy setup, chicken wire for outside pretty cheap, but it work's welds not real good, had mine 2 months and welds already broke. If on tight budget it's really good. If you have dogs ,we'll they will rip the chicken wire apart. If in high wind area ,it will break welds. Be sure to tie down with better anchor then provided. The ones in box won't hold down a paper sack. It's great coop for.the price. ... show more

  • Revised comment due to excellent customer service, but read for design change info
Pattern Name: Spire Roof Size: 157.2"L x 117.6"W x 76.8"H
EDIT: The seller and I have been in communication and they had to redesign to make shipping and manufacturing more efficient, which is understandable. I have upgraded my first rating to a 5-star based upon the excellent communication with the seller. Revised comment: I purchased this exact item (same company, same product, I hit the "order again" button on Amazon) a year or two ago. There are several major changes between the two models that are worth discussing. 1. Hinge design change. Hinges on the original model were fine. However, on the new ones when you tighten them on one side there is no strain release to prevent the side with the pin from also tightening, which then prevents the door from freely rotating. I hammered in an old nail to act as a strain release during tightening and that worked like a charm. (photo included) 2. Poles. I don't feel they are as tight fit on the new model, but the seller said they didn't change the poles themselves, so maybe I'm remembering the old installation incorrectly (it has been a year or two since I assembled the last one). I will say the poles do have significant wobble and it's not a bad idea to use a level to make them square and shove something in the joint space to tighten them up prior to installing chicken wire. I was hoping the chicken wire would tighten and square things up for me but it didn't, so learn from me and do it ahead of time. 3. Door assembly changed. In my photograph, the old model is on the left, the new model is on the right. The new model comes with an extra horizontal beam you're supposed to put above the door. I fought with it for a while until I realized it wasn't even on the old model. You can temporarily install it to hold the door frame in place, but when you go to install the door take it off if it's giving you problems, it's not necessary. Also, the new door uses clamps on all four corners. Last door had curved corners which was better (sturdier, easier to assemble, not crooked). When assembled my door was cockeye. I had to stand on the bottom and gently bend the top until everything was square. An addition that is not a critique of the product: the chicken wire will hold birds in but will not protect them from predators. You will have to install heavier fencing at least along the walls and sink the bottom of the fence about six inches into the soil. This helps keeps predators out but also the chickens in, as they like to scratch along the bottom of the coop and they will excavate holes over time. All in all it's a good chicken run for the money and my birds like it. Just be aware that if you have the older model and you're looking for symmetry that the door is different now. ... show more

  • Great size for my 14 chickens
I butted this up to my coop. It is easy to assemble. The chicken wire is terrible quality and thickness. I put hardware cloth around the sides of it. The white small zip ties are hard to work with and we just bought longer tougher black ones. I want to get another one to put next to mine to make a larger run to hold more chickens lol. ... show more

  • great frame
The frame is easy to put together even for one person, and lite enough to drag around if you needed to. The only two concerns we had were the supplied chicken wire and tie straps. The tie straps snap very easily when your cinching them down, and the chicken wire is basically not much stronger than plastic mesh. You can tear it with your hand. We used some Harbor Freight tie straps and put some actual 36 in chicken wire we had on hand around the bottom of the coop to further secure it. For us the frame and tarp still made it worth the purchase. ... show more

  • Exactly what I expected
This is exactly what I expected. The chicken wire is a bit thin and wouldn’t keep out a determined large predator. But the frame is strong, I like the door. You can add stronger chicken wire or hardware cloth if you need to. The structure is sound.

  • Good product for the cost
Pattern Name: Spire Roof Size: 86"Lx40"Wx40"H
Pretty good quality and not hard to put together..although the instructions are garbage. Will have to add wire to it so the critters can't reach, or slither in.
