The upgraded version was definitely worth the money for me because I had to bring two laptops and an iPad with me on my trip. I was surprised that there was a passed pocket for both laptops and a pocket for the iPad to boot. I don’t know that the upgraded pockets gave it more room per se, I think the bulk went INTO the backpack rather than away, so there’s that if you’re comparing capacity. But the convenience of being able to access them was worth it for what I was doing. I had a water bottle on one side and a large shaker bottle on the other. I had to remove one in order to fit it under the seat on the plane, but that was no big deal, I just stuffed it into the pocket on the back of the airplane seat we landed. I bought the dark green and was pleasantly surprised that the fabric has a shimmery kind of sheen to it. So pretty! And the gold accents look very classy. Held up very well after my trip. Looks just as good after a full round trip as it did when I unboxed it. The charge cord (extension? Since it’s not a full cord? I don’t know) came in very handy. I was concerned that it would be a cheap cord that wouldn’t match the quick charge capabilities of my battery pack and cord but my phone charged very quickly! You just have to watch it because it can pop out and then you have to open the bag and dig around until you find the cord to pop it back in and fix it. Only happened once though. Being able to remove it is worth the risk in case it wears out. You know how cords are. I would have liked a small pocket for my little wallet, the pocket on the front that looks like it should be a small pocket goes in very deep, but what it has did the job. If I care that much I could always sew it to be shorter for next trip. I probably won’t bother though. ... show more

This is our 2nd HAPPY purchase! I tell everyone about these backpacks! They're EXACTLY as shown in reviews, pictures and any videos. So much room and so many pockets to fill! Our first purchase was last year. My daughter was in the 6th grade and the school requested the kids to carry around the biggest, and heaviest binder you can imagine. This backpack carried that BIG binder along with her lunch, water bottles, and basic school supplies. The awesome hidden pockets made it great for those feminine products too. Now she's in 7th grade and NO BIG BINDER, but with all the subjects this year, she's carrying around more notebooks and 2 binders. This bag holds her lunch, school supplies, a 2in 3 ring binder, a 1 in 3 ring binder, 2 composition books, and 1 notebook. She's even added her sketch books and a headset to the load. It's the beginning of the school year and I'm confident this backpack will hold anything else she will need. There's plenty of room if you want to carry 16oz water bottles on the sides. She used last year's backpack for her trip during the summer. It had plenty of room and pockets for the trip! It was an awesome carryon. We love the variety of colors to choose from. Last year we purchased the black and cream color. This year we bought the all the black and it's REALLY nice. The material is thick. It's not easy to tear. The double zipper style is awesome. We love how the backpack stays open making it easy for her to pull out whatever she needs without searching. The packaging is great and it came with a protective bag. After using the same beloved backpack for years, it was finally time to get a new one to use as a carry-on. After much research, I chose this backpack and I'm so glad I did! I've even had two flight attendants ask where I got it! It has ample storage pockets, the padded laptop area is secure and well-organized, plenty of smaller both zippered and mesh pockets for smaller items like snacks, charging cords, etc. and two water bottle pockets are deep enough that bottles don't fall out. Not only do I use it for travel but also hospital stays, work, etc. LOTS of colors -- I got black which is stylish and classy-looking yet functional and structured. I love this bag! I Love the size and all the pockets! It's light weight as long as your added items aren't extreme. IM OBSESSED with the cow print color, the white is easy to keep white and the black isnt fading in the sun so far! It's my absolute favorite!
