[Bag was purchased to use as a personal item on United Airlines in a few months; I'll update my review after that trip.] I was immediately impressed by the quality of this bag. It appears to be very well-made, and the material is very nice, not cheap-looking or feeling at all. The sides are not rigid, but once you fill it and zip it up it's a nice rectangular shape. To make sure I wouldn't have to return it within 30 days due to any manufacturer's defects (I also paid a little extra for an ASURION 2 Year Backpack Protection Plan), I immediately tested it out by using it for a long weekend trip that involved traveling by car, train, ferry, and foot. I had to wear it on my back for two 12-minute walks, and found that the straps are comfortable on the shoulders. The interior fits a lot of items--I managed to get everything I needed into it, and I am not known for being a light packer. I didn't have any issues with seams bursting, straps detaching from bag, etc. so I'm not sure where some of the negative reviews are coming from. A feature I haven't seen anyone mention: if you want to carry the bag with the side handle rather than on your shoulders, the backpack straps can be stowed into their own compartment at the top of the bag, which zips closed and keeps the bag looking tidy and compact. (That's the only concern I have with this bag so far....the strap compartment obviously has to remain open when you're using it as a backpack. Not sure how rain getting into that compartment would affect the bag or the contents inside; hopefully I'll never find out.) Another nice feature is the trolley strap, which I will definitely be using on my next trip. Be aware that because of the side handle, this bag only has one side pocket that can fit a water bottle (probably not a wide one) or an umbrella. Ignore the reviewers who complained about the fact that the bag arrived folded in half. This does not damage or affect the bag at all. I bought this “backpack” because I didn’t want to buy one more 20” luggage and have to carry it around with the wheels because I already had more luggage but I was hesitant on a backpack but oh boy, this one is THE BEST. I was able to pack 7 dresses, 3 blouses, a pair of sandals, underwear and socks for one week, all my skincare products, bag of toiletries, a 6 oz face cream, a 3 oz perfume, a 16 oz shampoo and lotion, makeup bag, my unnecessary big**s wallet, two pairs of sunglasses, a folder with documents, 10 oats bars, a microphone-speaker and in the outside pocket, my 32 oz water bottle. The handles feel strong and the material is actually soft. And the fact that you can kinda “compress” the bag with the straps to make it a bit thinner is awesome. ... show more
