Biggest problem first! You need to own or have access to a grease gun because the unit shows up bone dry and you'll need to pack the bearings in the drive unit. (Pictured) The unit showed up well packed, undamaged, with all of it's parts and pieces. It fired right up, digs holes like a champ, and it's light enough to be easily maneuvered but not so light that it can't be controlled. The problem I ran in to was with assembly. The handles weren't bent exactly to form and the holes didn't line up clean with the frame so there was some muscling in to place that needed to be done. The hand controls are cheap plastic, but no worse then what passes for okay on many other products. ... show more

This driller works great,just like it should.BUT,BUT,BUT ,the gas cap is supposed to be vented,it lets gas pour out,it shouls only let air in,its broke.BUT,BUT,out of the box the throttle stop contrl was broken,,,,they wouldnt take it back and their is no product support .good luck

Bought for my husband and it worked great. Very easy to use. The auger works perfect very easy for husband to use and he loves it. Great for making holes to plant bushes and trees alot easier than digging with shovel or post hole diggers. Highly recommend for anyone.

    • Tore through clay like butter
Per the instructions, you're not suppose to run the engine full speed for the first 10 hours of use. I thought this was going to be a problem because I live in South Carolina known for it's red clay. The Earth Auger, tore through the red clay at less than half speed and was super easy to maintain control over when a root was hit. I see a lot of people mention a reverse option. That would be a good option to have on this auger as it is heavy to pull out between the weight of the auger and the clay that was dug up. Slow and easy I dug down 3 feet in no time and placed 2 10 foot logs in 2 separate holes. First time user and was overly cautious. Took about 45 minutes total. ... show more

I purchased this to dig postholes for 4 x 4s for fencing. I took delivery in January while the ground was frozen, and so didn't get to digging holes until April. I had only partially unpacked the unit, and so had mislaid parts over the winter; prompt, effective help from customer support got me up and running quickly. I've dug postholes by hand before, and so when I found myself looking into perfect 8" holes in the ground that took two minutes each to auger out, I was very pleased. When I divide the price of the auger by the number of holes I need, it was well worth the cost. I'm now looking for other projects I can use it for (planting bushes maybe?) ... show more

Got a great deal on this during cyber Monday and finally got to use it worked perfect had lots of rocks and clay to drill through did the job. I would recommend getting an extension bit to drill a bit deeper

    • Affordable but Poor Design
Brief Review: Arrived quickly but had problems right away. The product description, manual, and product have different oil mix notices. The oil mixture bottle provided (to mix the oil as directed) immediately leaked - its a cheap bottle with no rubber seal so when shaking. I setup the product as instructed and I used a ratchet set to ensure the bolts were secure. I looked around to make sure everything else was secure as well, no issues. Upon using it the first time, the bolt sets securing the trigger (on/off & safety) came loose and one bolt came off. I turned off the device and tightened up the bolts. I started to use it again and after 5 minutes the device got stuck on a rock and it would not turn off because the bolt for the on/off completely came off. I almost broke my hand and used a wood board to force the trigger into off position. During this event, another bolt (different one this time) came off as well. The air filter broke off this time (it did pop open on the first try). So unfortunately, I returned the item as there were too many negatives. However, there was some good. The fish tail end helps direct the product into the right area and I really loved that. The auger bit itself worked very well too. The instructions were simple to follow and everything arrived as described (no missing items). The motor was strong and worked well with the one hole I was able to complete. Something they need to improve - properly secure the off/on trigger and use a pull away secure line to the users hand so when hands come off the device turns off as a back up. the filter cover needs more room. The bolts need loctite to ensure they don't fall off during use. Lastly, who designed it so the hot exhaust is facing the user? Heat and fumes, not a good design. In the end, this product needs a few tweaks and it will be a great affordable item. As it sits I would not recommend it. ... show more

I bought this auger on sell, due to me planning on setting up a privacy fence. The auger came well packed and in a moderate size box. No problems there. After un packaging and during the assembly process. I noticed some pieces were cheaply made. Such as the control handle, pull cord and throttle control. But it fit together like a charm. After oil and gassing it up. It started on the first pull everytime. When it's running the throttle control works pretty good. The blade was sharp enough to go through a few roots. The throttle control handle and pull cord did end up breaking off due to the low quality plastic. But it dig a good 40 plus holes 3ft deep before giving out.
