This drive even includes a complimentary one month membership to the Adobe Creative Cloud All Apps Plan for access to awesome photo and video editing apps. Troubleshoot: (1) file transfers are too slow - check if the other USB devices connected to the same port or hub Is the drive connected to a USB 2.0 port on your computer or hub Is your computer's internal hard drive limiting transfer speeds (2) receiving file transfer error messages - When copying files or folders from a computer to a FAT 32 volume, certain characters cannot be copied.These characters include, but are not limited to:? <> / \ : The drive will remount to the desktop. LaCie drives conserve power by spinning down when you set your computer to sleep mode, and when the computer is awoken from sleep, it may not give the drive enough time to spin-up from its sleep mode (3) The drive icon doesn't appear on my desktop - check if both ends of the USB cables are firmly attached check if the drive receiving sufficient power.     • ONLY HAD IT ONE DAY AND....

This may be premature but this is the nicest hard drive that I have ever owned. I was going to purchase a less expensive drive that would give me more storage (like the 12 tb) but I am glad that I didn't. First of all, I read some of the reviews that spoke negatively on the cord that comes with it. I was fortunate enough to have a slot on my laptop for it. I LOVE the cord. Not only does it free up an extra usb port but most importantly it may be one of reasons I was able to transfer 260gbs in an hour. I'm not always up on the latest so to me, that's lightning. Did I forget to mention that while it was transferring those 260gb, I didn't hear a sound. With those qualities you would think that this drive needs to be plugged into a wall.....Nope. Lastly, I actually like the orange casing. This hard drive is handling heavy workloads with ease. The orange vest seems appropriate. 5 stars all the way. Stop searching. I have several of these, previously 1 TB, and now also 2 TB. They work flawlessly with Time Machine on my MACs. Several are about 10 yrs old, and none have failed, even after a drop to the floor.     • Not working after 2 weeks of use.

I purchased this to have in my stash as a photographer and when I went to use it, it is not working. It’s not durable. The cord doesn’t stay in the hard drive and keeps disconnecting. Very frustrating as a creative who has to store photos and do post production.

    • Update: Works OK after mysterious initial failure

REVISED 01/01/25: I purchased this to back up a half-full 6TB Seagate Backup Plus drive that's acting flaky, attached to my MacMini. UPDATE: The drive came formatted EX-FAT (Mac and Windows compatible) with a USB-C to USB3-Micro B "Super Speed" (two lobes, for the drive) cable. With no spare USB-C ports on my MacMini, I used a Samsung USB3-A to USB3-Micro B cable from an older Seagate drive into a Sabrent USB3-A hub on the MacMini. It worked fine at first, then failed as described below. Retrying with the LaCie cable into a USB-C to USB3-A adapter into the hub worked. Super sensitivity in the Mac system? I have no other explanation as the drive continues to work on Windows PCs with the old Samsung cable. INITIAL REPORT: It mounted fine out of the box, and macOS Disk Utility recognized it as a 5TB volume "LaCie." The first few copy batches of multi-GB files and folders worked OK, but then copying stopped, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 reported "Copy operation stopped, volume disappeared." (WTF??). macOS Disk Utility no longer sees the device. It mounted as a USB volume on Windows 11, and I could see the copied files. Windows reported disk problems so I ran the Scan & Repair utility (Properties->Tools), which took a while but reported a successful repair. Trying again on macOS, and the same result: The drive starts up (vibrates) as expected but doesn't mount and is still invisible to the Disk Utility app. ... show more
