  • Excellant Product

I used a Nespresso Essenza for 7 years and 5,000 cups of coffee. Yes I kept count. When it died, I replaced it with a Nespresso Mini. It died after 1 week and 6 cups. So I returned it and ordered the L'Or Barrista. It died after 4 days and 3 cups. So I called L'Or customer service to report the problem. I had a new machine in 2 days. I have used the machine for a couple weeks. It is considerably larger than the 2 Nespresso machines. But it produces both espresso and conventional coffee. And the water tank and used capsule containers are large enough that they don't need daily attention. The quality of the coffee, using both L'Or and Peet's capsules is excellant. The coffee is hot and the taste smooth. One downside is the used capsules contain a lot of liquid. The more capsule, the more liquid. The more liquid, the sloppier the emptying process. Be carefull or you will have a mess. The machine is excellent but I was really impressed with the customer service. No hassle. No drama. Just service. ... show more

  • Fantastic!

I had not had any plans to buy a pod based coffee maker again. I have a major brand that starts with a K and was never very happy with it. I prefer strong coffee and I always found the coffee from this machine to be weak and not pleasing to my taste. This machine popped up in my Black Friday deals and it had a sizable discount so I was a bit intrigued. The product description really went out of their way to tout the robust coffee flavor and brewing method. When I asked about the flavor strength the vendor again went out of their way to stress their brewing method and pods which they assured me gave good strong flavor. The reviews were uniformly very positive. Given Amazon's liberal return policy I thought I would give it a try. Set up was a bit quirky. The instructions provided did not cover all the pieces to the machine and I was left trying to figure out how several of the pieces fit together. Specifically the empty pod collection container. I had no idea what it was and where it fit until I saw a completely unrelated diagram that gave me a clue of where it fit. In case you are wondering what I mean - there is a large hollow gray piece that is meant to fit behind the coffee output nozzles. There was also another smaller grey piece that was not detailed in the main instruction page and was referenced on a small separate piece of paper I am almost missed as it was stuck in the bottom of the box. So make sure you look for that. As for the main instructions it felt like they were designed to be language free and only use pictures so that they did not need to have a bunch of different versions. To sum all of this up - the instructions need a separate comprehensive section that details ALL of the pieces and how to properly install them. I also think that the usage instructions might need to be revisited and consider adding some writing in addition to the pictures. (No need to try and be like ikea with their 'it will take you all day to figure it out instructions'.) Once I got everything put together and running I was impressed with how quickly it got up to temp and ready to brew. Very very pleased with the taste of the coffee. Even the medium strength pods brewed a reasonably robust cup. The strong version was excellent. It also makes a very nice Crema (froth layer) on the top of the cup. I have yet to try the espresso pod, saving them for when I run out of the others as a treat for myself. A nice little touch is the aforementioned used pod receptacle - when you lift the top to put in a new pod it automatically ejects the used pod into the receptacle. Nice usability design. So overall as a coffee maker I think it is fantastic. Minor downside is that because it is so easy to brew a quick cup I might end up drinking too much coffee. Update after one week: (Important) - as mentioned above, used pods are ejected down into the grey container. You need to pay attention how quickly the container fills up because it is easy to lift lever and have it try and force a pod into it and possibly getting stuck. (totally did not happen to me….) I think the water reservoir should be larger. I am getting about 3 cups of coffee before I have to fill it up again. Personally I think it should be large enough to hold 5 cups of water. Thankfully it’s right next to the sink so refilling it’s not really a problem. I just think it will be more convenient with a larger reservoir. Oh BTW - Make sure you grab the coupon that gives you a bunch of free pods. I almost missed that. (Funny side note: I saw the Vine reviews and I am a Vine reviewer, and unfortunately this had not popped up on my available to get list. -We don't all get the same list of products available for review. So I ended up paying for it.) ... show more

  • Working great after a swap

Update: L'OR saw my review and reached out. They offered to send me a replacement. I wasn't sure that's what I wanted but gave it a shot. Apparently the machine I got wasn't working well. The new machine is perfect. Every pour is exactly the same as the last. I am not getting even extraction from every capsule. I love the coffee and the machine. Customer service is excellent. They were very quick to respond and kept me in the loop at every step. I have been drinking L'OR coffee for years. I have a subscription to their capsules. When my last expresso machine died I saw this one and figured who better to make my morning drink than the company that makes my coffee? The machine is nice and sleek. It's very easy to use. I like strong coffee so I tried their drip coffee pods. Their coffee is quite strong and I do like it. Their espresso seems weaker now. It's still good but not as strong as when I was using my last machine. Also, the biggest issue is that the extraction of a small espresso is consistently inconsistent. The first capsule with extract for 7-9 seconds and the second capsule usually extracts for 10-14 seconds. You end up with two very different espresso shots. It's fine if I am making myself a drink but when I am serving two different people you are serving them the same thing. It's very disappointing. ... show more

  • Terribly disappointed!
Style: Matte Black
I don't like to give negative reviews, I wish I didn't have to but my recent experience with L'or has been less than favorable. At first, I was excited when I purchased the L'or Nespresso machine with their 30 coffee pods free offer. What was kind of strange is on my credit card it looked like they slightly reduced the price of the coffee machine by a few dollars and they made a separate charge for the pods. But when you calculate it the price came out alright. Except the pods were marked as "none returnable". What they don't tell you is that the 30 coffee pods they sent you, in small print are all marked Out-of-Date, yes, they were expired. They were probably manufactured a couple of years ago. Old stock they were trying to get rid of. (none returnable) Shame on you L'or for trying to trick us. Now for the coffee machine, it looks and works really great and makes a really exceptional great strong cup of coffee. Very easy to use and heats up and is ready to go in less than 30 seconds. But after just using it for less than a week I had an incident. Like usual I made a cup of coffee for my wife and proceeded to make a second cup of coffee for myself. It's not complicated, I dropped the pod in the machine closed the lever, and pushed the button down for a double espresso, when suddenly my hand got hit with a stream of hot steam. Luckily I pulled my hand away before getting any serious burns. I don't know what went wrong, was it my fault, did the pod not go in straight, or did the first pod get stuck. Regardless, I wasn't going to try to find out. After noticing the pods were out of date and now this, I'm just going to return it. It's too bad because it made a really great strong cup of coffee. ... show more
