First, you have to give it time to fluff up from its vacuum sealed packaging. Once it has time, at least 24 hours, to regain its fullness, it is very soft and comfortable. It covers our king size mattress just fine. It's very warm and cozy. The cover is of a sufficient thickness that no feathers have poked through. Personally I found it to be too expensive but my wife says it's a pretty average price for a good down duvet. Even though I prefer a good heavy quilt to sleep under, this is doing a pretty decent job and I don't have a problem saying I would recommend it if you like down products. ... show more

    • A nice, light-duty duvet

I’d describe this down-filled duvet one as intended as a “blanket substitute” rather than a heavy-duty comforter because it has noticeably less filling (and thus insulating potential) than others with which I’ve had direct experience. When running the AC, I sleep covered with just a top sheet. With autumn’s arrival, I find myself in that in-between time of running the AC and turning on the heat. This past week the the inside ambient temperature was about 3º C/5º F lower than the where I keep the AC, so I pulled out a fleece blanket to supplement the sheet. Normally, I wouldn’t even think about using a down-duvet under those conditions—it’d be far too hot—but couple days later, when this duvet arrived, I decided to give it a go instead of the blanket. It has proven to pass the Goldilocks test: not too hot, not too cold, but just right. The shell is a delightfully soft cotton fabric, with weave sufficiently tight to prevent down leaks. It is well tailored. I did not find the slight scent after unsealing the shipping bag in the least off-putting; after manually plumping and then letting it tumble in a cool dryer for 30 minutes I really don’t notice any odor. Alas, the distribution of the down is inconsistent: some cells are quite nicely stuffed, while others are much less so, resulting in many cells being nearly flat regardless of one’s efforts to plump them—which is why I deducted a star. At the full price ($160 for the "California twin” size at the time of this review), I’d consider it overpriced, but there is a 50% off coupon which bring it down to a much more reasonable level ($80). Let's be honest, purchasing this down comforter is a big financial commitment-not cheap. But, ohhhhh, the luxury of it!! this is a beautiful comforter. It strikes a balance between seeming heavy in the package, to suddenly whisper light when spread over the bed. I purposely got the California King for our King sized bed because I like the extra coverage this provides as a functional bedspread at the same time it is our blanket. Not having to make and unmake the bed with a decorative spread really speeds along the process. For the moment, we've been enjoying this without the duvet cover until we find just the right balance between style and softness we are looking for. It will be important to use one though, because I want the comforter to last for years both because of the investment and because it's a wonderful addition to a good night's sleep. ... show more

For years I slept under a down comforter because I kept my heat turned down to save energy. Now that I choose my sleeping temperature for comfort (65 degrees because my head likes being cool) my old down comforter is too hot. This one is perfect for that temperature. It has enough down to make a nice even layer. The one picture shows the evenly spread out down from under the comforter. It’s quite cozy in a 65 degree room. I’ve slept with this for two weeks without a duvet cover and not one bit of down has come through the comforter cover. The stitching ids meticulous and tight. Most down comforters are 15% feathers. I’m not feeling any feathers in this. It seems to be near 100% down. I ordered a king for my queen bed because it is on a 16” base. I believe I will come to regret that based on previous down comforter experience where the down hanging on the side of the bed tends to gather at the bottom of each square, slowly working its way to the edge of the comforter. If that happens, I will fluff it and work it back with my fingers. This duvet exceeded my expectations for light warmth and once I get a duvet cover adding layers will be perfect for some cooler nights. ... show more

I am beyond impressed with the LOVSOUL Down Comforter in California King size. From the moment I unpacked it, I could tell this was going to be a high-quality addition to my bedding. The comforter is incredibly soft to the touch and feels just as luxurious as some of the higher-end brands I've tried in the past. The 800 fill power gives it just the right amount of fluff, making it perfect for keeping me cozy without feeling too heavy. What really stands out to me is how well this duvet insert regulates temperature. Even in a cooler room, the medium warmth level provides excellent insulation, but I never feel overheated or sweaty. It’s versatile enough that I can see myself using it throughout the year, which makes it an amazing investment. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the corner tabs make it easy to secure inside my duvet cover, keeping everything in place. Overall, this comforter exceeded my expectations in every way. This came packed solid in a box that I have no idea how the heck they got it into that box. Like, seriously! We pulled it out, got it fluffed up and there is no way it will ever fit back inside that box ever again lol! It gets nice and fluffy and feels warm and cozy.
