  • Comprehensive KROSER 17.3” XL Review
Size: 17.3 inch Color: Black Red
The media could not be loaded. Copied from my video review script: This is a review for the KROSER 17 point 3 inch XL laptop bag you see here. I’m going to show you what I carry in it and how much room it has as well as what I like and don’t like about it. Here I have my old Targus Laptop bag from my college days and as you can see, it has definitely seen better days and has been long overdue for replacement. So after some looking around for a few days trying to decide what kind of bag I wanted I came across this one on a lightning deal. I believe I paid $35 or so with the normal price just over $40. So now to the bag itself, overall outer appearance is nice, the red accents aren’t too much. You have a clip here for if you want to attach something outside, on the sides you have 2 very deep mesh pockets. Over here are buckles to cinch down the sides. On this side here you have a regular usb port you can charge from with a power bank if you have one. And I’ll show you the inside part of that in a minute. At the top you have this super heavy duty handle which I love, it has a very sturdy feel to it and makes grabbing and carrying the bag feel safer than just grabbing by a fabric handle. It does have a normal fabric loop here at the back though, depending on how much weight you have I wouldn’t use that one personally. Now to the back you can see the straps, these are padded and feel pretty comfortable. The adjustment is very nice and has a wide range for smaller frames to larger ones. There is more padding here on the back made out of the same thing as what is on the straps, it’s a mesh over a foam like material that seems breathable. Down here there is this strap for sliding over a luggage handle for travel. Finally at the bottom here is a hidden pouch which is where I will start looking at the interior of the bag. There is a single zipper for this, I do wish they had made this a double zipper with the ability to put a lock on, but it is a nice little secret pouch that isn’t too noticeable. The padding is not too thick on either side. This might be a good place to put a passport or other valuables while traveling, but yet again I might be hesitant without being able to lock it. Also in case anyone was wondering, I tried both a full size and compact bang-stick in this and I don’t recommend placing either in there as the compartment was too small for a full size and just barely covered a compact. Okay now let’s look at the main compartments. The rear compartment here has these zippers which are made to use the lock that comes with the bag in case you want to secure your items a little more. This compartment is made for a laptop as well as other thin electronics or paperwork. I have a 16” laptop in here as well as a 12” iPad. The Velcro strap covers both the pouches which I find nice. This compartment is very thin though so don’t expect to put too much in here. Also at the top here is the hard compartment. I have my sunglasses in here. You can see the top here has a hard plastic to help protect items inside, My one complaint here is that only the top is hard so if something were to smash your bag it’s possible the items inside could be crushed against items inside your bag. But I think it’s good enough for most cases as is the second zipper compartment here is what I would consider the “main” compartment. The zippers are a different design than the ones for the laptop compartment but they still have large holes that can be locked together. This compartment is large and can hold a massive amount of items. I keep a notebook and a binder here as well as some odds and ends. There is a pouch here at the rear, a zippered pouch here at the front, and a mesh pouch on the right side here. Up here is the USB cord for the outer USB port. If you were going to use that you could just drop a power bank down in the pouch right there and plug that cord directly to it. The third pouch here has zippers like the one before, inside you have one larger pouch, and then a bunch of accessory pouches in front of it. I use this for pens, tags and other items. One of these is a RFID pouch if you need that. This compartment is deep but thinner, the zippers don’t go down as far so access isn’t as smooth as the main compartment but It’s still great. Oh there is also this key ring here. If you have a vehicle with keyless entry you could just clip it in here when you don’t need it and pop it off when you do. The front compartment here is very basic. We have the same zippers as before, and one pouch with a decent amount of space. I just keep some small hand tools in here. Finally, we have 2 side pouches, they have single zippers and are both identical, the zipper only opens at the top here and these are very deep as you can see just like the mesh pockets on the outside. Overall I’m very happy with this bag and its size, only time will tell how it does with long term durability, but it feels solid and well made. The only concerns I have are with some of the plastic parts like the buckles eventually wearing down and breaking, but at this price point that’s probably a given across the board. For my uses as a work bag I think it’s a great fit and I hope to get many years of use out of it. Thanks for watching. ... show more

  • Very spacious and great for travel
Size: 17.3 inch Color: Black Red
I've been looking for a travelling backpack that will hold a 17.3" HP Envy laptop but I wanted one I could look at in person. I also didn't want to spend a lot of money on something sight unseen. I checked out many local stores and found the SwissGear brand seemed to be the preferred choice of many. So I started looking on Amazon and found this Kroser backpack with the same features, apparent quality, and at nearly half the price point of the SwissGear pack I wanted. This Kroser backpack is fantastic for the features, storage, orgabization, and price. And my laptop fits perfectly! ... show more

  • This is a solid pack for a great price.
Size: 18.4 inch Color: Black
I'd made up my mind not to write any more reviews, but my pack just arrived and I have to say I'm impressed. There's nothing wimpy about this pack. (and i have a lot of packs from Gregory and Wilderness experience expidition packs to Swiss army surplus canvas and leather) The material and zippers are very robust and there are plenty of pockets to keep things organised. I'm going to make this my car kit bag with a dedicated power bank and foldable solar panel. I like that its not flashy or tactical looking but is tough enough to handle that role. The hard case on top is big enough to hold reading and sunglasses as well as a small flashlight and head lamp. The charging port can keep lights phone and tablet charged while being stored in padded pockets. Its roomy, organized, and tough while still looking low key. Couldn't have asked for a better bag at that price or even double. Looks like I can sell off one or two tactical packs that are so enticing to thieves and tuck this unassuming piece of gear behind the drivers seat. Can't wait to kit it out. ... show more

  • Kroser 17.3 XL Computer Backpack vs Targus Drifter II
Size: 17.3 inch Color: Black Grey
TLDR: The Targus is a very good laptop backpack, but perhaps not twice the price better. I’ve used a Targus backpack for over 6 years, mainly to carry my laptop to work and back, on average over this time period around 3 days a week, walking around town, on the metro, uber rides, etc. I’ve also taken it with me to after-work happy hours, bars, as an overnight bag, etc. During this time it has been an exceptional backpack, however one of the suspension straps finally broke on it, so I decided to try this Kroser as an alternative. The following is my assessment of the differences between the two. Weight: The Targus is lighter than the Kroser, but the Kroser is slightly better padded overall. Handle: The Targus has a rubber wrapped wire handle, while the Kroser has a padded cloth wrapped wire handle. The Kroser’s handle is more comfortable. The Kroser also has a cloth hook which the Targus does not have. Color: I bought the silver / black Kroser. While you can’t really tell from the Amazon pictures, the Kroser “silver” color is a *lot* darker than the Targus silver. In fact, I’d even call it almost dark grey, not silver. (See the "Wenger Synergy Backpack, Gray" listing for what it actually looks like in real life) Reflective: The Targus has reflective piping on the back. The Kroser does not. If you are afraid of people not seeing you at night, or might be peddling on a bike at night with this on, you might want to consider the Targus. The Targus also has bright yellow loops throughout while the Kroser has darker red loops, and fewer of them. The Targus also has silver zippers, rather than black, and silver grommets on the back. Overall the Targus is a lot more visible than the “silver” Kroser. Side Pockets: One of the reasons I loved the Targus were the two side pockets, where you could fit a water bottle or a mini umbrella and zip the pocket all the way closed. You cannot do that with the Kroser, its pockets are about 2 inches shorter than the Targus’. Even a mini umbrella will still stick out of the top. The Kroser does have the cinching / compression straps that helps keep things like this in place, but the Targus did not even need these. Also, I can definitely see these compression straps being a future point of failure, as other reviewers have mentioned. Back Padding: The Targus is good, but the Kroser is a little better, and this is probably part of why it weighs more. Aeration between the two seems similar. Internal Padding: The Targus is good. I’ve never had any laptop or electronic item break inside my backpack, and I’ve taken it everywhere. But the Kroser is admittedly _slightly_ better. Still, they're both good. Bottom Padding: While the Targus has a rubber-like base, which is better for putting down the backpad on a wet surface, like a bench, the Kroser has slightly more padding, better for protecting items in the backpack. Your choice as to which is more important. Back Straps: Both seem similar and equally padded. The Kroser does have the chest strap, which the Targus does not have. But the Targus has suspension straps, which the Kroser does not have, and which _might_ make wearing the Targus a little bit more comfortable over time. Top Pocket: For the Kroser this is truly only the size of a glasses case, shallow. It's padded, but it's small. The Targus’ on the other hand is almost too deep, you can lose items in there, have to go fishing for things. Inner Pockets: Honestly the two are almost identical in terms of inner pockets, pockets-within-pockets, clips, hidey holes, etc. I really don’t see much difference in terms of places to put things on the inside. One moderate difference I will point out is that for the main (non-laptop) compartment in the middle, the Targus has this too large “kangaroo” pouch inside of it which often got in the way of me attempting to put something into the main compartment. The Kroser has a tighter version of this pouch which does not get in the way, and does not have this problem. Zippers: The zippers on the Targus are good, but those on the Kroser are a little better, smoother. Sum: Honestly they’re both very good laptop backpacks, and about the same size. Not taking into account cost, I don’t really see a clear winner between them, depending upon what you need. Taking cost into account, I think the Kroser is a mostly comparable backpack for about half the price. As long as you don’t need to be seen at night. ... show more
