  • Ive had this for two years. Was pretty reliable until recently.
Color: silver
I've had this unit for just over two years. Used it regularly for charging my mobile phone, ear buds, wireless headphones so never really had anything on it that drew a large amount of power so it lasted a really long time per charge. Only recently has it suddenly started to just shut off in the middle of charging a device. By design it has fans that are supposed to kick in if it gets hot and I've only seen those kick on over the past two years in the summer time if I was charging something in my home office as that room tended to be a little warmer than most rooms in the house, but nothing crazy temp wise. Other than that, the items I was charging did not cause the unit fans to kick on when the room was room temperature or below which my house usually is. So why its turning off on its own recently I have no clue because it cooler now (October) and I was only charging my work and personal cell phones. What's worse is the once it turns off, I cannot power it back on with the power button on the front. I have to go plug it in somewhere and it will come back on and resume usual functionality. At first I thought it was turning off because all the charge was used, but once I plug it in and it powers back on I consistently find the the remaining charge is well over 60%, so low charge isn't the reason for the shut offs. Really was liking the unit the past two years, but now I can't trust to use it in a mobile setting where there is no electricity which defeats the purpose. Good unit, just can't attest that it can last as a reliable power source after two years. ... show more

  • Useful, but.... suboptimal design, heavy, inefficient, and noisy
Color: black
A generally good concept, except for some shortcomings. Everything has a cost, not just in price but in tradeoffs. For anyone with an already heavy computer bag, this additional weight and bulk are going to be noticed immediately. If you want power, you pay for it in several dimensions. There is no free joule. Experience shows that it takes about 4-5 hours to charge a depleted battery pack. That is about twice as long as it will power a typical Thinkpad using the AC outlet, though you can use the AC outlet power while the battery pack is being charged. In one test I completely removed the OEM battery from the Thinkpad and the battery pack successfully powered the computer for 2.5 hours on AC OUT without dropping below the recommended 20 percent minimum charge level. Note that the 20 percent is an industry recommendation but not mentioned by the distributor/manufacturer. For a typical laptop that calls for 19-20 volts DC, a far better design solution would have been a DC OUT at 19 VDC. Some Kristonia power products evidently have this feature. Instead, with this device, you have to use AC OUT to run through your laptop AC/DC converter/adapter, and that involves enormous inefficiencies. You lose energy in the DC=> AC conversion within the battery pack, then again with the AC=>DC conversion at your laptop adapter, and the battery pack then has to run a fan to cools its conversion innards, resulting in not just power losses but a bit of noise that may not be welcome to everyone. That fan appears to stay on when supply AC power out, rather than only operating when the internal components require cooling. Another design shortcoming. The "user manual" is the size of a post-card, with type too small to be read normally. To the device distributor: Redesign this thing for a 19 VDC OUT port, and a set of DC tip/connectors for a versatile range of laptops, and you will have a 5-star winner. Nice points: The power status display is a plus. The carrying case is a nice bit of foofoo. None of the components run hot. The AC/DC external adapter meets US safety standards (though the battery pack unit doesn't) The watt-hours output is clearly marked on the battery pack case to shore up your arguments with the unschooled knuckledraggers at TSA Speaking of TSA, the advertised 99.9 watt-hours would mean this is as powerful a "spare battery" pack as TSA and airlines would normally allow for carry-on. If you know how to press buttons, you should be able to operate in pass-through mode, charging the battery pack from an AC source while also supplying power to the AC and DC out ports. Summary: the product is a limited success, reflecting some unfortunate engineering tradeoffs resulting in inefficient power supply and limited utility of the device. ... show more

  • This is a pretty nice battery pack
Color: black
If you want to avoid trying to find wall plugs at the airport or just trying to have an emergency battery pack then this is the one for you. First thing about this is that I actually had to get a replacement unit. The first unit the power button was actually sinking in and getting stuck so make sure you press the power button a few times when you first get it. It should just be a small press and not go all the way into the unit. This unit is a bit on the heavy side so be aware of that when packing I would say this thing weights close to five pounds more or little less. It is pretty compact so it can fit in most backpacks. It comes with its own carrying bag as well that will protect it from external scratches. The outer layer is a pretty anti slide surface in my opinion so you are not going to be sliding this off of the desk or anything. This battery pack is pretty strong. I tried to power a monitor with it and it actually did for several minutes before running out of power although I would not recommend using this battery for that purpose but it is definitely a good thing to note about it. It has two ways of charging your laptop. From what I can tell it can charge your laptop via type C port or a wall plug that is provided. Be aware that with the type c port charging for the battery you will require a strong power brick to charge the battery. That being said it can actually charge a macbook via type c to type c which is pretty nice if you are trying to charge two laptops at the same time although the charging is extremely diminished doing this. There is an actual number gauge to show how much power is left in the battery which is really nice. I am not needing to guess how much percentage is left before it dies. The charging time for this device can be close to six hours or more from dead to full, but it provides you laptop with up to eight hours of battery life. I was able to power a laptop with no battery for about four hours alone on just this device alone. Be aware that this device does get warm while it is in usage so be careful not to have this device say under a blanket or inside the carrying case when you are using it as the carrying case is made of insulated material. There are also several USB ports to plug in your phone if you need to. You can charge your phone about six to seven times over before needing to recharge your device again. It does come with a type c cable and the charging cable you can plug into the wall. In order to power this device on you will need to push and hold the button for about two to three seconds before it starts working in the wall outlet part of the battery. If you are just charging your phone, all you need to do is press the power button and it should start charging immediately from what I can tell. It does support fast charging for phones from what I can tell which is nice. I really like the battery for charging my macbook or windows laptop. It really has a strong charging capability able to charge your phone and laptop at the same time. It has a rather nice carrying case to protect the battery from external damage. Finally, it allows you to not have to worry about finding that wall plug to charge your laptop while you are traveling. ... show more

  • Not Permitted for Medical Equipment on Virgin Atlantic
Color: black
This power pack might be TSA approved, but Virgin Atlantic Special Assistance personnel informed me that I could not use it with medical equipment, as it had not been approved by their engineers to be used with medical devices. I had to return the battery pack to Amazon. Other airlines might not be so picky, but if you are flying with Virgin Atlantic, you have been warned. ... show more

  • Actually charges my laptop
Color: gray
I’d searched and searched for a travel charger for my laptop and this one does the job. I am not a tech person, so I’m not going to attempt to talk specs. The AC plug charges my laptop and I’m over the moon about that. This charger is not the lightest thing, it’s kinda heavy. I love that it has a digital display that shows how much power is left. I tested it on my Lenovo yoga which was at about 79% , it charged it to 100% in less than 20 minutes. The battery charger was at 100% before charging my computer, after charging the computer it was at 81%. Overall I’m happy with this purchase. One more thing, the fan is super quiet! My husband made a reply that it was supposed to have a fan inside, I told him it did and he said “Really? Is it on?”. My only issue is how heavy it is, but I don’t think there is one out there that’s lighter and has an AC plug. ... show more

  • Not a fan
Color: black
I'm not happy with my purchase. I got this charger in November 2021 and probably used around a dozen times since. I tried using it today and it went from 100% to 0% in 10 minutes of using my laptop. Did I get a bad one? Maybe but I don't think I will be trying any other products from this brand.

  • Amazing for travel. Has an AC plug too!
Color: gray
Charges a laptop and anything else you throw at it. Perfect as a large charger for a laptop but also for hotel room stays just plug your 5 or whatever devices in and we didn’t have to work about the type of power. We just bought a plug adapter and this converts all the power. Great purchase. Well worth the money. ... show more

Color: black
My unit will not consistently charge anything other than an iPhone. Everything else will only charge intermittently, or not at all.
