Forget old fashioned stud finders. Prior to buying this I used magnet strips to locate studs. This thing makes things so much quicker, the built in level, laser and magnet are a great combination. Ended up buying one each for my dad and kids also.

I like that it’s small and compact and has a level and laser, and I can just attach it to the side of a shelf above my workbench, with its magnets. That being said, I wish the laser went out both ends. It is pretty limited if you are doing more complex projects, but is a good option for beginners and people just doing one of tasks around the house. I would not suggest this for someone who is going to tile their kitchen backsplash, for instance. It is a good value for the money, to have as a quick convenient tool. ... show more

I like that this has magnets at the rear which can stick onto the nails of the studs which makes it easy to find nails and studs, but I don't like that this only has the bubble balancer one way. I wish it had the X and Y axis balancer.

I used this to find studs in finished walls, I would use it to make a line straight down from the first screw on the drywall and I followed that putting in the rest of the screws It has a level on it so it helps with picture hanging Holding screws in a bunch on the magnet It’s just a great gadget to have in your tool belt and junk drawer ... show more
