  • Not a bad Meter
The pre-calibrated moisture settings are abundant. The settings apply to a plethora of types of lumber and wood. I'm guessing around 50 different types of lumber/wood. And probably about 5 settings exist for building materials like concrete, and drywall. So if you're a wood worker, or framer, this meter is priceless. If you're looking to use this for home inspections... well... its still basically guesswork, and upto interpretation of the moisture content of drywall or carpet. The Bluetooth feature is a joke in my opinion, since the app doesn't seamlessly work into FLIR's Thermal Imaging reports with this moisture meter. A lot is to be desired with FLIR's app and reporting software, but its better than nothing I guess. This does have the best backlight I've seen in a display though, and is easily readable. The built in thermometer is a nice touch as well. The bottom line, its a solid meter, but has room for improvement. Especially given the price point. ... show more

  • Love it already.
It’s a good size and strong enough for North American hardwood. Purchased on the strength of the brand and because it takes standard AA batteries. The last moisture meter I had took coin cells. I don’t abuse this kind of tool, so it should be helping me measure wood drying progress for a long time.

  • If you're buying this as a home inspector - Don't!
I was hoping this would connect via Bluetooth and transmit readings continuously to the app. It doesn't. If you're a home inspector, you know it's sometimes tricky to get a moisture meter into an odd location or angle and get a clear photo of the reading for the report. High ceilings, moisture damage in the attic, etc. I thought this would help by providing a continuous readout on the phone instead of struggling to read the screen. What I really wanted to do was mount it on a pole, and reach ceilings/roof sheathing/siding easily, but that won't work. Once you download the app (which is clunky and not very intuitive) you link the meter to the phone. Once you have a reading, you have to press one button on the meter to "hold" the reading, then press and hold another to transmit it to the app. It transmits the data to a file.. somewhere in there...which you have to retrieve. Another reading? You'd have to do it again each time. Then there's the unit itself. I couldn't find a setting to default the backlight to on, so you have to turn it on with each use. The adjustable parameters for different materials is cool, but keep the manual (online only, by the way) handy, because each setting is just a number on the screen, with no description. There's a flashlight on it, and I guess it might help, but you're not taking this thing into a dark attic or crawlspace as your only light, trust me. The relative humidity/temperature function might be useful, though. I feel like this meter might be great for "other" moisture meter applications, but for an inspector, you're probably better off with a pinless for interior use, and a cheaper, simpler pin type for everything else. The Bluetooth function isn't really useful enough to justify buying this one for inspection applications. ... show more

  • Durable and good value for the cost
This moisture meter is durable and easy to use. The pins are replaceable and the settings for different types of materials are Easy to understand.

  • Nice looking, but that's about it
Nicely made in general, but poor QC on the battery compartment... AA batteries have to be forced into place. Makes long-term durability questionable. Seems to be a nice meter, but could not get any readings on sheet goods (drywall, plywood). Occasionally obtained a momentary sporadic, non-repeatable reading at best. Tried two units, same result. Ultimately gave up and returned. ... show more
