  • A sneaker disguised as a boot.
Size: 12 Color: Olive
This is the second pair of Kodiak Thane boots I've owned. The first pair I bought in 2018 from REI. Of all my boots, and I have a decent collection, my sweet gf likes these the most. These are by far the cheapest in price and build quality. In fact, of all my boots, these get the most compliments from random strangers walking by. Kodiak nailed the look. And for the price, it's hard to beat. With the low price comes cheap materials and build. This newer version is about the same price I paid for the boots a few years ago with updates to the materials and build. Updates, not upgrades. The interior of the previous boot was lined with a soft microfiber material. Nothing special. This boot has an even cheaper microfiber material but doesn't have a heel counter cover like the previous boot. I will say, though, entry into and out of the boot is quite smooth. The lasting board on the previous boot was a compressed cardboard. This boot is a woven material that you'd find in sneakers. This material makes it flexy and less boot feeling. The stitch around the sole is completely superficial. This review is becoming a book and I'm going to stop myself. It's a $100 boot and if you can get it for less (which is common and this boot's price seems to fluctuate on Amazon) then even better. It's no Danner, Red Wing, or the like but for a $100ish boot it's great for looking like a boot. Will it last? Ehhhh. Should you work in it? Definitely not. Night on the town? Definitely. Raining and don't want to get your fancy boots damaged? Take these. ... show more

  • Wouldn't have bought them in hindsight.
I bought two different pairs of these boots at the same time because I liked the style and didn't want them to vanish into the world of discontinued items. I wanted an everyday boot that could hold up to an occasional camping/hiking activity. I've had these boots for a year and a half. Here's my 2¢ - The biggest let-down is the interior soles in both pairs of boots. I'm heavy-footed and rotate wearing each pair at various times. Something inside the sole has come unglued or detached. Both soles now make a clicking/squeaking noise with every step. It's very irritating and will be the reason I buy a new pair of boots. Pretty crappy for only wearing them for 1-1/2 years. - Sacrificed "made in the USA" for Canadian boot because I liked the leather/canvas style. Buy American. - Size 14 wasn't available. Size 13 runs small (naturally). 13-14 Sizes vary (personally) depending on mfg. Took a good while to stretch out and feel comfortable because I have a high foot arch. 13 fit with some break-In work, but a size 14 would have fit spot on. - Super light, NOT totally 100% waterproof. Stood in the rain for a smoke and felt my feet getting damp. Not soaked, but enough to feel the water on my feet. - Laces have started to fray slightly due to constant cinching of laces when tying. ... show more

  • Nice style and Comfy
Size: 9.5 Color: Olive
Olive with the lighter laces pictured. I swapped them out for the dark green included. Bought these to replace my old Tim's Earth Keepers (pictured) that had the sole start to separate. I was torn between these Kodiak boots and the Sorel Carson Six. I went with this since it had a bunch more reviews. The size seems to run true. I wear 9 in converse and typically 9.5 in boots and these fit perfectly. To be picky, the welt is a little wide, about 0.25 inch, I would have preferred for it to have speed laces up top instead of the eyeloops, and the tongue gusset does not go up as high as my old Tims, but all in all, I'm pretty satisfied with the boot overall. Time will only tell how long they last. I used to hike in my old Tims and had at least 100 miles and 5 years out of them. Heel Height: 1.125 inch Platform Height: 0.625 inch Update / Edit: after about 80 miles, the boot started to separate from the sole with both boots, one side significantly more than the other. I removed a star because of this. If you are looking for a pair of boots for casual use, this one is fine, but if you want something that lasts years, look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Good looking boots
Size: 10.5 Color: Olive
The look is better than I expected. Fit well, the stitching is great. Time will tell if they last.

  • My favorite boots
Size: 9.5 Color: Black
Amazing boots with fantastic durability. I wouldn't suggest them for hardcore camping, but for walking a lot in the city, or for some light camping, they're great. Super comfortable, warm, and water resistant. Comfortable for wearing on bike rides, too. Absolutely the best boot, in my opinion, for casual but frequent use in cold weather. ... show more

  • 3.5 Years and still going STRONG!
Size: 11 Color: Gold
I've worn these boots pretty much everyday for the past 3.5 years and they are still holding up great. This is "general everyday use" with the occasional light hike or camping trip here or there. The tread is holding up fantastic and they offer a lot of grip on a variety of surfaces. They are rugged and they look great. I've had to replace the shoe laces once, but that's it. Liked them so much I even ordered an alternate color. Thanks for making a great durable boot! ... show more

  • Best boot I've ever worn
Size: 11 Color: Black
This is my second pair of Kodiak's and I will not be switching any time soon. Stylish enough to wear to work or out casually while durable and warm enough to wear when doing chores/working outside of the house. I live in the mountains and we can get up to 4 feet of snow at times. I've never slipped on ice in them and the leather holds up extremely well to scuffs and scrapes from my tools/lumber. Almost completely water proof in the rain as well. If you are looking for a proper snow boot for invest in pair with the inner lining or be prepared to wear some thicker socks. These are not meant for long snow days. Bonus - each pair come with a second set of laces. ... show more
