These are quite expensive, but if you can stomach the price, they are GREAT. You will never want to use a crescent wrench again. The 10:1 levering on the jaws makes these absolutely steady when used on hexagonal or square nuts or bolt heads. You can achieve nearly the same convenience as a ratchet by relaxing your grip on the backswing - it has enough play to slide over the corners until you squeeze it back against the parallel sides. It's not at all hard to use this way without damaging the fasteners, which I was pleased to find out. This means instead of fumbling around for the right wrench or socket, you can just use this one tool on nearly any size fastener. The middle size tool covers most of what you want to do, but the large size and the small size are handy - for holding the other end of the bolt, or for the biggest or smallest fasteners. It can grip TIGHTLY when used to hold a bar or sheet of something, too, although since the jaws are smooth it's not a total replacement for pliers. It IS a total replacement and a huge improvement over the familiar crescent wrench, though. Can't say enough about how nice this tool is to use. If you like to spoil yourself or use tools a lot, it's worth the cost. Get only the middle size if you want to save money. ... show more

I know, they're pricey, but they are strong, durable, and versatile. The different sizes are a plus. Quality is top notch. The joint system gives these pliers exceptional strength and ease of use. These pliers make for great quick response tools! Toss one or two in your bag in place of a large set of wrenches to reduce weight and work quickly. If it turns out you need/want something with more leverage or contact on the faces of your nut/bolt, these pliers have both metric and standard size markers etched on the side so there’s no guess work. The fact that the jaws open linearly instead of radially means there’s no more awkward grip angles on nuts and bolt heads. The flat jaw has been great for working sheet metal back into shape. I had this set in my wish list for over a year. I didn't want to spend that kind of money but I was fascinated by the high rating. I love tools and really appreciate when a company thinks outside the box for a clever design and then follows it up with high quality materials and manufacturing. I finally pulled the trigger on the set and then purchased their VERY small one days after when the price dropped by $10. I cleaned out my tool box, removing most of my pliers, channel locks and adjustable wrenches because these tools do all three jobs - better. The biggest difference with this design is that when it "locks" into place with that cam mechanism the handles don't want to separate like they do with channel locks under load. It's a really good design. Also, the jaws remain parallel at all times, which is sweet. Finally, there are no teeth to damage the hardware. I was hesitant to blow more than half of my tool budget for that pay period on four pliers but I'm really glad that I did. The few times that I've used these so far I was very pleased with them. Would you ever use channel locks on gas plumbing? Of course not, but these work fantastic, with no marring. UPDATE: After several months, I find myself using these for everything during my kitchen renovation. The various sizes means I always have the appropriate size that can get into the location. I have been carrying these around as part of HVAC tool bag for several months and they work amazing. The Largest pair is great for Boiler work and is the perfect size for the job. The middle size is great and I use it interchangeably with a crescent wrench; depending on the job. The smallest size is my most used and has completely replaced any equivalently sized crescent wrench; it securely grabs onto the bolts and can be operated at a speed equal to a ratchet. Professional mechanic review: these are ingenious! The grip is amazing opposed to open end wrenches that have a built in tolerance, these hold tight with zero play and great gripping force. I most frequently use them to hold the nut on the backside of a bolt being removed with high power impact wrenches, and never slips. Saves a lot of time locating another open or box end, plus fits in tight spaces. I have used on fasteners where the only option is an open end and otherwise can't get a good enough "bite"...Miles better then slip joint pliers. Typical German quality, same as sold on most tool trucks, at a better price. Worth every penny ... show more
