Everything about this jar is intelligent. The use of either cloth or silicon to cover the top, the day\time band, the very heavily printed numbering and lettering, the thermometer which works very well and the just the inclusion of the weight of the jar so you can weigh your total mix weights. Despite what others have stated, this is not a cheap, thin, flimsy glass jar! Quite the opposite! It is of exceptional quality and thickness! Easy to read, and of course the wide mouth enables you to feed it without a mess! I love it! It is beautiful on the counter as well!

Made my first sourdough starter with this kit. It had everything I needed for success. the jar itself is sturdy and big enough to accommodate your growing starter. The cloth lid is perfect for keeping the bad stuff out. The silicone base keeps your jar from slipping during feedings. And the reminder band and stick om thermometer add a nice touch. I'm so happy with this that I bought one more with another in my basket to give as a Christmas gift. This jar is the best thing since sliced bread (see what I did there LOL)! The size is perfect, the two different lids are perfect, the markings are perfect, and the rubber band to keep track of the time is perfect! I almost wish I had a third one!

I like this product a lot. I know you could honestly use any jar for your sourdough starter but as a beginner in the sourdough world, I like that this comes with everything you need in one. The tracking band is probably my favorite part. I also like the thermometer, but it is a little difficult to read. They're are sometimes three different "readings. If that's the case, the middle reading is the best. If there's two "readings" the temp is somewhere in between the two. The other reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that the cover cloth is hard to get on sometimes. I like that it's fitted but I think there could be a little more material down the sides so it doesn't pop off when I'm trying to put it on. I love my starter jar, so much that I bought one as a gift and they love it as well. Plus the help they give you is awesome. The product is well-made and is shaped so you can easily remove your starter or feed it. The silicone lid is great for the fridge while the cloth topper Is perfect for feeding. I got it for my Dad for Father's Day. He loves baking sourdough regularly, so I thought he might like this gift. He was very excited about it and immediately started using it. Some great things about it are that it's glass, so it's easy to clean, it's a good large size, the little reminder band works great for keeping track of when you last fed the starter, and it comes with both a silicone and cloth top as well as a little adhesive thermometer. I like this piece a lot even though there are cheaper brands out there. The company seems amazing. because they will contact you to make sure everything‘s good with your product and they have a whole host of recipes and videos to help you that are easy to follow.
